WSUS Interface Missing
Andrew McNab 07.07.2007 04:16:06
I made the misstake of reinstalling IIS and now I am unable to access the
WSUS options in the Server Management snap-in or the web interface accessed
via the Administration Windows Server Update Services icon.

When accessing Update Services in the Server Management console, the view
pane shows:

--
Server Error in '/' Application. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The resource cannot be found.
Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its
dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is
temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that
it is spelled correctly.

Requested Url: /UpdateServices/Home.aspx

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Version Information: Microsoft .NET Framework Version:1.1.4322.2379; ASP.NET
Version:1.1.4322.2379
--

The path /UpdateServices/Home.aspx exists in the Inetpub folder.

When trying to use the Administrative Tools icon for WSUS, the url

http://MYSERVER:8530/WSUSAdmin, cannot be found and MYSERVER is substituted
with my server's computer name. The folder WSUSAdmin does not exist anywhere
on my system drive or the path I defined for where all downloaded updates are
kept when i first set it up.

The Installation Status folder of Update Services in the Server Management
Console is still populated. I am just not able to interface with WSUS at the
moment. Any advice would be great thanks.

I couldn't find WSUS in the Windows Components to remove and reinstall. As
far as version is concerned. I'm running Service Pack 2 and I haven't tried
to upgrade to version 3 of WSUS so it's probably version 1 or 2.
