"Doug Evans" <sosorry[ at ]nospam.com> 07.07.2007 16:24:04
SQL 2005 Standard on SBS2003. I installed SP2 for SQL2005 and after reboot
SQL fails to start with the following error in the event log:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSSQLSERVER
Event Category: (2)
Event ID: 17207
Date: 7/7/2007
Time: 8:55:29 AM
User: N/A
Computer: sbs_test1
Description:
FCB::Open: Operating system error 5(Access is denied.) occurred while
creating or opening file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\DATA\master.mdf'. Diagnose and correct the operating
system error, and retry the operation.

Thanks for any help!
Doug

Looks like the service account you used to setup SQL Server does not have
permissions on this folder. For best practice, use an account with local,
NOT domain, admin privileges for your SQL Server service account.
