Disk Quotas on windows 2003 r2
buud35[ at ]hotmail.com 06.07.2007 12:52:23
Using the File Server Resource Manager I setup disk quota for user's
home folders and shares. Using a test acount I setup a quota that was
less than the amount of data in the home directory (quota = 100mb
home directory = 115mb), when i tried to save a doc to the directory
it would not let me, so the quota was working. The problem is that
when users go to windows explorer it show free space and total space
from the entire volume not what was setup for the quota. How can I
change the total space to display what is setup in the quota. The
desktops are windows xp sp2 and patches are upto date.

R2 includes two different kinds of quotas - the older disk quotas and the
new FSRM controlled folder quotas. Folder quotas work as you've described,
and don't show the lack of space. Disk quotas can't be set from inside FSRM,
but are created from Explorer. Right click the drive, then click on the
Quotas tab.

As far as I know there is not way to do that. You will always see the free
space of the volume.
