VPN = no internet
AmitKu <amitku[ at ]gmail.com> 30.06.2007 20:17:30
When I VPN from home, I cannot surf the internet, cannot ping any
websites, cannot access my email, nothing.

When I go to a Border's and use a Tmobile hot spot card or whatever
it's called, everything works well.

Clearly something is wrong with my home network, but what could it
be? I'm not a super techie, so pls be elaborate when you give advice.

Thanks in advance,
Amit

Well, you're comparing apples to oranges ... the reason you cannot access
the Internet after establishing a VPN connection is that the computer is
confused as to where it should go to get it's internet access, and your VPN
conenction changes the default gateway setup.

Take a look here for how to fix it:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/317025
or here for a post from Merv when somebody asked the question awhile back:

The answer you got below is the right one, and if you happen to use Cisco,
than you need to enable the split tunnel.
