Exchange Administrative Group
Bob Peek 25.06.2007 14:01:04
When I open Exchange System Manager, there is no administrative group in the
tree. The listing is:
Global Settings
Recipients
Servers
Connectors
Tools
Folders

I believe that this is an associated problem with the inability to view the
properties of any of the public folders. Using Exchange System Manager or
Server Manager, when I try to view the properties of a public folder, the
application hangs and I have to 'end task' in order to continue. The only
error in the event log is ID 1002 Application Hang mmc.exe.

I can view the properties of a public folder through an Outlook client,
create a new public folder through an outlook client, but can do neither from
Exchange System Manager.

Thanks for any help

It's probably not related - and you're looking at the default view in ESM,
which is normally fine. However, to change the view if you wish, open ESM
and right-click on the top-level container, and go to properties - you'll
see the option to display routing groups & administrative groups.

Re the PFs - did you perchance install IE7 on your server?

Yes, IE 7 is installed on this server. Probably through an update. I don't
believe that I assertively installed IE7.

Thanks again

Yes, but those should really be handled manually - you don't want autoupdate
on a server. I personally blocked all IE7 AU downloads via group policy
(same with SP2).

Perhaps you did it passive agressively? ;-)
