You either use the Desktop redirector or BES, the free one for a single user.

Hello,
Thanks for posting in our newsgroup.
From your description, I know that your customer wants his mail to be forwarded at the exchange level to his Blackberry device. If I am off-base, please don't hesitate to let me know.
As I know, Blackberry devices fetch emails from the Blackberry servers. So as long as they have an email address for their Blackberry device, we can configure Exchange to forward emails to that address.
You can also ask the hardware manufacture to see if the device supports this. Thanks for your understanding.
Hope the information helps.
If you need further assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Best regards,

Hi,
If you add their blackberry's email address to their Contacts folder, you can create an Outlook 'redirect' rule to that contact, which will send a copy of each new email to the blackberry. This should work at the exchange level (I.e. still works after you close Outlook down).
Cheers,
Mark

If you forward by rule - and I still feel this is the best way - then the emails that arrive on the blackberry appear to come from the user. This is what our users have reported.
As an alternative, at the server you can set it up so that all emails to the user are also forwarded to another account: 1. Active Directory Users and Computers 2. Find the user account and open the account properties. 3. On the "Exchange General" tab click [Delivery Options...] 4. You can then set a forwarding address - be sure to click "Deliver messages to both forwarding address and mailbox". I think you will need to create contact first with the external blackberry email address because you can only forward to a address that exchange knows about.
This is more "yucky" because the system admin needs to do it and not the user, but it does mean that emails arrive on the blackberry appearing to be from the correct sender.
Hope this helps. -- Brian Cryer www.cryer.co.uk/brian

Hi,
1. First add a contact to the Active Directry (not a user!) with the blackberry address 2. On the Server open the User account you wish to forward 3. Select the Exchange General tab 4. Click Delivery Options 5. Under Forwarding Address, Select forward to 6. Select the contact you added in step 1 7. Ensure you select the "Deliver Messgaes to both...." Checkbox
This will forward your mail to the blackberry and the Exchange mailbox at server level

The snag here is this:
If you forward to only the BB device (not leaving a copy in the exchange mailbox), then:
a) when the BB goes pffft, so does all traces of the email. b) a reply comes from the BB.
If you leave a copy in the inbox, then:
a) when email is read on the BB, it's still marked unread in the Inbox. b) replies sent from one place aren't reflected in the other.
You really need the BES software to be happy with a BB device. (Or, just use WM as it's integrated with Exchange already.)

If you use a 'redirect it to people or sitribution list' rule (not a forward rule) this maintains the original sender information when the email arrives on the blackberry.
