Allocated Memory Alert on Server
Matt 27.06.2007 09:00:02
Hi,

I have a server with Small business server R2 2003 Premium
Hardware Dell SC1430 2 x Xeon 5130 2.0GHz, 4 GB ram 3 x 146 gb SAS disks
with Perc 5i U320 SAS Controller (Raid 5 config). I keep getting messages
saying "A large amount of memory is committed to applications and processes
etc" I then raised the default alert threshold from 2Gb to 3Gb and still got
the messages. I investaged a little further and had a look in task manager
and found that an instance of sqlservr.exe (MSSQL$MSFW) had memory usuage of
1,700,000 which seems a little high. Is this the instance for ISA 2004 and if
it is what should I do (reinstall/ reconfiguire) ??

thanks
matt

This is a normal behavior. SQL will release the memory if other apps need
it.
