Vista Search Results Blank
Imdgonz 09.07.2007 19:42:03
Using the search in Vista, I am getting a list of "blank page" icons with no
file information. This comes up by defoult in the "all" view. If I switch to
specific categorie views like "email", I will have correct results. I have
not been able to solve this, and can't find a cause. Please help!

Gonz, Are you using Search Indexing? If yes, then you may need to rebuild the Index to get the correct results. Go to the link below and scroll down a bit until you see the "Rebuild Index" section. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/69581-indexing-options.html?ltr=I Hope this helps, Shawn -- brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.*

Thanks for the tutorial - but none of these steps is a fix. The blank results
still fill the page.

Gonz, You might try deleting the Indexing data folder. It is a bit more thorough than the Rebuild option. See this link for details on how to do it. Scroll down a bit until you see the section. http://tinyurl.com/2l6haq If this does not work for you, you might just disable the "Indexing Service" and use the regular more thorough Search feature instead. Details on how to diable are in the same link above. How to set up you Search options for a better search result is at this link below. You can use the same setting displayed in the screenshot at the link below for a complete hard drive search. It is a bit slower, but it will find everything. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/75447-search-options.html?ltr=S Hope this helps, Shawn -- brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.*

Thanks again. I tried creating an entirely new indexing location and the same
"blank" results are on every search. The most frustrating part of this is
that it worked fine up until about 1 month ago. I may have to try a restore
and risk losing so many other things. how painful.
