Unable to Relocate "Documents" Folder
jsmartin22 12.07.2007 05:22:02
Hello,

I just reinstalled vista-Ultimate, and I want to relocate the "Documents"
folder to the "D" drive so I can separate my data from the OS, which is
installed on the "C" drive. The process to do this is described at the link
below. However, I am unable to relocate the "Documents" folder, despite this
should be an easy process!!

When try to move the "Documents" folder,
FROM: C:\Users\J Martin Software Tester\Documents
TO: D:\Data Files - JSM\Documents,

I recieve the following msg: "There is already a file with the same name in
this location".

However, there is NO FILe on the "D" drive; the "D" drive was just formatted
and is brand new. Why Do I get this msg? And what do I do to resolve the
issue? My purpose is to put my data on a drive, separate from the Vista-OS.
There are no hidden files on the "D" drive, and relocation to another drive
and/or folder produces the same results.

Thanks!

Scott

PS At one point, I believe I was successful; but since I wipe and
reformmated my drive, I have not been successful at placing the Documents
folder on the "D" drive.

One other comment:
Somehow Drive D thinks the "Documents Folder" resides on this drive, right?
Even though I can't see it and it is not hidden. Could there be some
residual element on my D drive? I definately had 'Documents' on Drive D,
but wiped drives C and D and reinstalled my OS on Drive C. Since I've been
unable to successfully move my 'Documents' folder, with msg being "The file
already exists...." as noted above. Hmm.

One other comment, Drive D is a raid1 array. Maybe I need to reformat each
drive individually? Suggestions and comments would be appreciated.Thx!

Scott

I reinstalled my OS and I reformatted drive D, but

I have a system where Drive D is a RAID 1 system. I deleted my OS and
reinstalled the system and then delete
