Why this happens in terminal service? DAXU[ at ]HOTMAIL.COM 11.07.2007 14:04:41 Hello, I got an appliation like a toolbar to lunch things like notepad etc (some application, just same me some type time). Before I install terminal service, it works ok. But when I got terminal service installed, it failed to launch. (e.g. when the toolbar tries to launch notepad,it gives out error: Unable to find notepad.exe in "C:\documents and settings\administrator \windows\". So why it is searching that path? If I remove terminal service, the application will be OK again. Many Thanks Jerry

This makes partial sense because notepad.exe is located at %systemroot%\notepad.exe, however, under a terminal services session GetWindowsDir will return the user-specific windows directory instead of the *real* one. In order to fix this you can set a compatibility flag for your toolbar program. For example, if your toolbar program is named toolbar.exe you would need to make the following registry additions: 1. Create the following registry key, substituting the real program exe file name (without the .exe) for TOOLBAR: HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Terminal Server\Compatibility\Applications\TOOLBAR 2.
