I have not removed the log off button. I have enabled the restart on log off option. The problem is when I log off the computer restarts and goest directly to the public account. There is no log in button. The welcome screen shows for a short time (with no log in option) then the public acount opens automatically. When the welcome screen is visable, control-alt-delete does nothing. When the public account opens, numerous windows denigning access to the Task manager pop up (depending how many times I have pressed ctrl-alt-del. The safe mode didn't help either. Anyway after hours of trying everything I could think of , I reloaded a fresh copy of WinXP and set everything up again. My advice is to sty away from this particular combination of settings. It appears to lock you out of admin altogether. Microsoft should warn about this or disallow this particular combination. A huge waste of time to do this.
