I was persuaded by the salesman to have the 64 bit version of windows server 2003 installed to take full advantage of the faster 64 bit hardware. It is nice and fast with quick access to the SATA Raid 0 array, however there are continual driver headaches, most relating to lack of microsoft support for its own products. There is no driver for the microsoft document imaging printer in office 2003, none for the microsoft xps document printer and none for any canon printers. Now, after a security update (dont know which one) I find it has lost its drivers for both IDE DVD ROM drives! Both are in perfect working order, I can boot from them both using the windows 2003 CD which obviously have drivers for them, but the old drivers no longer workwith whichever of the new security updates knocked them out. Pioneer says they dont have any drivers, microsoft has them. Microsoft update is unable to find any drivers, and installing generic drivers doesnt help. Does anyone else have this problem and know a solution? (the worker around is using shared networked drives on anothe computer, not very satisfactory for a server!) (the workaround for printers is most brother and epson printers have 64 bit drivers for windows XP 64 bit, most of which work on 2003 64 bit, so long as it is not a GDI based printer one is printing to. The workaround for document imaging, xps etc is to forget it and print to PDF, which works fine!)
