2003 SP2 Appliance to R2
stevep 02.07.2007 10:44:01
We have an Appliance edition NAS with 2003 server Std + SP2. I've tried to
install R2 but on running the 2nd disc it asks for the key. Have tried both
the std & R2 keys, either of which work.

We have upgraded all the other normal 2003 servers to R2 ok but not this
Appliance edition. What is the requirements for upgrading this?

I'm not sure what "appliance" edition means. Do you mean Windows Storage
Server? If so, that's an OEM product only, and I don't know that you can
upgrade it to R2; you'd want to check with the mfr.

it came with the server mfr so im guessing it is oem. On the windows bootup
splash says Appliance yet the about states it as Std. Since then SP2 has been
installed.
Its annoying i cant install fsrm as this server is the main file server, the
precise place where its needed.

Perhaps you should contact the hardware manufacturer....and perhaps you
needed to buy a regular W2003 server license & CALs.
