transfer FSMO to a new installed DC
Patrick 11.07.2007 03:10:01
Thanks for your help.

In our environment, we have 3 DC (windows 2000) and 1 exchange 2k3 server
(Win 2k3).

DC01 is the first installed DC, it hold all the FSMO role now.
When I open the Active Directory sites and servcies, there are two top
folder: sites and services and there are some subfolder under servies like:
Microsoft Exchange and Netservices and some others.

Then I open the Active Directory sites and services on another DC, there is
no services top folder. Why?

What's the function of this folder?
When I transfer the FSMO role, does this info. will also transfer the target
DC?
I just want to ensure that the our Exchange server is functional after I
transfer teh FSMO role?

Thanks & regards,

Patrick

Hello Patrick,

Thank you for using newsgroup!

For FSMO roles transfer, you may use Ntdsutil.exe to transfer FSMO roles.
