dns namespace design
"Sampras" <samprasy2k[ at ]hotmail.com> 12.07.2007 10:40:17
I have registered a domain name in internet, for example : xyz.com

now I would like to setup a windows 2003 server at our office, which dns
namespace will be better for medium business? what are the pros and cons for
them?

1. xyz.com
2. xyz.local
3. corp.xyz.com

thanks a lot.

This is the subject of some debate. Some people like to use the
non-standard TLDs, such as .local or .internal. Personally, I prefer
to use either a) the same DNS namespace, if the customer is reasonably
comfortable managing external DNS entries; or b) a subdomain of the
DNS namespace. So, I would go with either #1 or #3.

Of course, that's just my 2 cents. YMMV.
