Access Denied Error from VPN
Nordic <nospam[ at ]nospam.com> 10.07.2007 22:39:52
Hello:

I have DFS-R setup with a namespace of \\domain.com\Departments. Under
Departments are folder referrals for the individual Department folders. The
network has three sites (as defined in AD). There is also a good degree of
VLANing. The VPN comes in on its own VLAN and currently does not have an AD
site associated with it.

I have two issues with accessing the referrals.

First, users connected over the VPN are unable to access anything below
\\domain.com\Departments. That is, they can go to \\domain.com\Departments but
get access denied at \\domain.com\Departments\Accounting. They are able to go
to the folder directly at \\server1\deparmentstuff\Accounting.

Second, users who do not have their computers joined to the domain are not able
to connect to \\domain.com\Departments\Accounting. They get: "logon failure"

Any suggestions about resolving these issues?

thanks.
