DFS change in Server 2008

Hi,

are there any enhancements to DFS in Server 2008 compared to Server
2003 R2? Maybe performance improvements in DFS-R, support for more
than 1 TB of data per server or anything else?

I can't find any documentation on that, but maybe someone here
knows...

Thank you,
Chris

Yes, there are performance, reliability, scalability, and administrative
improvments. We have not completed documenting these yet nor can I
publically speculate on what will make it in the final product. However, I
highly recommend you download the product and start seeing what it can do
currently:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d9cc31d5-8ad2-4600-9cbe-855efb357b10&DisplayLang=en

This is fully usable with Virtual Server 2005 R2 SP1 as a guest machine as
well, if you are limited on hardware:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/virtualserver/downloads/default.mspx

Total cost of all of the above: $0.00 :-)

.....

This link has a complete Lab Guide to setting up DFSN/DFSR in Windows Server
2008:

This link is a webcast covering branch office scnearios with DFSR (and other
stuff) in 2008:

.....

I expect public docs to pop once we hit the first release candidate, as at
that point we're feature complete and what's in typically stays in.
Typically.

Thank you Ned,

I've already installed quite a few longhorn builds in the past 6
months, it's just that we've had scalability issues with customers and
I was looking for "good news" for them. In particular the 1 TB limit
for data on a server is a problem.

I guess I'll be checking for documentation then...

Thanks,
Chris
