Vista MC Streaming to rest of House?
"[ at ]sh" <blah[ at ]blah.com> 14.05.2007 11:40:13
Guys,

Very interesting reading the threads within this forum. I've just got Vista
Home with MC and very impressed with its functionality. I'm about to move
house and want to pipe Media Center throughout my entire house (3 TV's and a
Projector).

I've setup my old machine with Vista (still high spec) with an NVidia 6800GT
installed with HDI outs, I'm planning on the aerial output from the loft
going straight into this box, but then want somehow to use the existing coax
throughout the house to pipe the display of this machine to the rest of the
house?

With regards to the Projector I'm thinking of selling my PS3, buying an XBox
360 to use as a media extender, but would this have hires outputs, i.e. HDI?

Any ideas?

Cheers, [ at ]sh

Ahhhh so is HDMI a superior format to Component or is the difference
unnoticable?

Also, any other advantages of the XBox 360 Elite?

Thanks for your help!

Cheers, Ash

HDMI has a superset of the DVI video interface, however, it also supports
digital audio and some extra control line signals.
With either DVI or HDMI you have the posibility of poorer color quality
caused by converting the video to analog and then back to digital if you
have a digital technology display when you use a VGA or component interface.

Think you mean with VGA or component. DVI and HDMI are digital from end
to end.

Thanks for this guys, so in summary its worth me waiting for the XBox Elite,
so that I can use a HDMI to DVI converter, rather than get the current XBox
360 and use Component?

Really? Can't find any mention of it anywhere - still wondering whether I
can justify buying one new?
