A 7900, 8600, or X1950 is recommended however some lesser cards will still work. With a decent video card, either windows version should work for you. Otherwise what you mention is fine for 2005, with, of course, a good video board. I have an ATI x1300 on the Vista, nVidia 6600 GT on the 2005, and both work well. Go for a duo/dual core CPU and lots of ram. Go for Vista Home, must say I was Vista-Negative at first, but I'm warming to the idea!
