Sync Only if Converted?
Brian.Reading 02.07.2007 09:08:01
I'm so close to having a nice automated set-up for syncing my TV shows from
my Vista Media Center with my Windows Mobile 6 Pocket PC, but there's one
catch that is very annoying.

What I usually do is leave Windows Media Player on in the background, and it
does its nice little thing of automatically converting my specified shows as
they're recorded, and it's great!

However, it takes a VERY long time (especially with my unimpressive
hardware) to convert TV shows with Windows Media Player. Like I mentioned,
because Windows Media Player converts these shows automatically, this isn't
really my problem. That is, except for the fact that if a show is recently
recorded, and hasn't been converted yet, the sync will take hours because
it's trying to convert the file before it finishes syncing. This is
unpractical because a sync should be something temporary.

I know I can just disconnect my Pocket PC when it gets to the point in the
sync of having to convert the unconverted shows, but while just using the
Windows Media Center interface (which we all know we really don't want to
leave), there isn't even feedback to tell what show it's on, etc. There's
just a progress/percentage bar.

I know all of this is a bit petty, and it's actually almost complicated to
explain, but basically, there is ONE SIMPLE OPTION that would remedy all of
this. Is there anywhere, in Windows Media Center or Windows Media Player that
will allow me to specify to only sync shows that are already converted?
