and running home premium. Have monitor connected via DVI cable and a 32"
conventional TV connected with an "s " video cable. Getting good output to
monitor but limited output to TV.How do i set media centre it up to play
recorded Tv back thru TV?

For many graphics cards the scan converter chip for S-video has a maximum
desktop resolution you can have and use S-Video output is either 800x600 or
1024x768. I suggest you try 800x600 for your desktop first and see if that
works before trying 1024x768. With the Nvidia drivers you may able to set
the S-Video up for Pan and Scan and then use higher resolutions on the
desktop.

Many thanks for yours and others help on this forum.

I have now got reasonably good image on 32" standard TV --full screen,
slightly cropped and on some chanels the image is actually improved (ie less
snow/interference) via pc then direct off cable. My 22" monitor however has
been degraded from 1600x1200 to 1024x 768. I was getting used to and enjoying
the functionality and quality of the large monitor and now wonder how to get
it back without losing TV output. I could live with it the way it is but.....

I have it set up in the nvidia control panel nView as cloned and option for
higher resolution not available. I was wondering if the dualview option in
nView would give me what i want. I dont see any reference in the nvidea
control panel to "pan and scan".

Appreciate any suggestions.

Does your convential TV also have YprPb component interface in addition to
S-Video by chance?
If yes you could use it if your 8500GT came with a dongle to support YprPb
component like mine did.

Unfortunately it does not nor did my 8500gt come with a "dongle" which i
assume is a dvi plug to YprPb component converter.

Any other suggestions or do I "just" buy a new HD Tv?

Thanks.

Jim

Well since your TV does not support Yprpb component it does not make much
difference.
My 8500GT card came with a 9 pin din connector and a dongle that from which
it supported HDTV-OUT(Yprpb component) or TV-out (S_video)
