I bought a Hauppauge WinTV 150 board a year ago and ran it just fine =
with XP Media Center Edition. I mainly used it to record shows and =
replay to my TV.

Got a new hard drive and installed Vista Ultimate and now Media Center =
won't get past the IR Blaster part of the setup because it doesn't =
recognize that I have a Blaster connected. I never used it before and =
have a device with one cable, not a split one that the User Guide =
documents.

Has anyone gotten past this?=20

Hauppauge recommends a $39 Remote Control device which might solve the =
problem but I wasn't too confident in the support rep's understanding of =
my problem. I don't really care about the remote -- I just want Media =
Center to record shows. I'm also having trouble getting the WinTV2000 =
application to install correctly.

What do you recommend, please? Are there other boards that work the =
first time and everyone likes?

Thanks for your support!

You apparently purchased the standard 150 PVR and not the 150 MCE PVR. =
The difference is that the standard model comes with a Hauppauge =
WinTV2000 compatible remote and one blaster. The 150 MCE model comes =
with a MC compatible Ir receiver an MC remote and with two blasters.

Thanks JW, but that brings me back to my original question. If you have =
the 150, not the 150MCE, how did you get Vista to configure it? When I =
run the Media Center config under Vista, it stops because it can't find =
the IR Blaster, even though I have one plugged into the card. You said =
I needed the 150MCE version in order to configure but now you're saying =
you got it to work with the 150.

Which drivers are you using -- Vista's or Hauppauge's?

Thanks,
Lon

I am using exactly the same card as you are?
I can use either MC or WinTV2K on my Vista Home Premium for TV and =
can only use the Hauppauge remote with the WinTV2K application. I have =
no MC compatible remote.
These is no difference in the actual cards only with the remotes =

Thanks JW! Sorry to be so specific here, but just to clarify, =
you're using a 150 PVR MCE, not a 150 PVR like mine -- is that correct?

I use a 150 PVR on Vista.
However if you also want to receive OTA HD digital TV you might =

Thanks for the answer, JW... Will the MCE PVR work with Vista =
Ultimate?

What do you recommend for a card for Vista?

Thanks much,

You apparently purchased the standard 150 PVR and not the =
150 MCE PVR. The difference is that the standard model comes with a =
Hauppauge WinTV2000 compatible remote and one blaster. The 150 MCE =
model comes with a MC compatible Ir receiver an MC remote and with two =
blasters.

I bought a Hauppauge WinTV 150 board a year ago and ran it =
just fine with XP Media Center Edition. I mainly used it to record =
shows and replay to my TV.

Got a new hard drive and installed Vista Ultimate and now =
Media Center won't get past the IR Blaster part of the setup because it =
doesn't recognize that I have a Blaster connected. I never used it =
before and have a device with one cable, not a split one that the User =
Guide documents.

Has anyone gotten past this?=20

Hauppauge recommends a $39 Remote Control device which =
might solve the problem but I wasn't too confident in the support rep's =
understanding of my problem. I don't really care about the remote -- I =
just want Media Center to record shows. I'm also having trouble getting =
the WinTV2000 application to install correctly.

What do you recommend, please? Are there other boards =
that work the first time and everyone likes?

Thanks for your support!
