Vista 64 Bit Memory Limit for Media Center
Stefan 03.07.2007 22:52:02
Running Vista Ultimate 64 Bit, Tv function in media center working fine until
I update my Ram to 6GB's. now it says the my tv signal is too weak and its
just a blue screen. Have updated all drivers but Haugpauge support tells me
that media center has problems if you have over 3GB's of ram.

Anybody had the same issues, the only reason for the 64 bit headaches is to
add more than 4gb's of ram.

The tunner is the PVR-500 MCE.

This is a known problem.for 150, 500 and the Analog tuner on 1600 cards.
The following thread at the Hauppauge.UK Vista64 Forum has a complete
discussion of the problem.

http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=11051

It is a long thread (15 pages) but you need to read it completely in order
to understand the current situation which is:

1. Hauppauge.UK was not able to reproduce it.
2. Hauppauge US states that it is not a Hauppauge problem and that MS is
aware of the problem.
3. There is no evidence that either Hauppauge or MS is currently looking
for the cause or that MS will post a KB article about it.
4. It is suspected that another driver or service is causing the cards
memory to be corrupted but the problem does not always occur depending on
where in memory the drivers or processes get loaded after a boot or restart.

Thanks JW.

I am certainly not married to this haugpauge card by any means, do you know
of any other quality cards that are not affected by the memory issue.
