Improvement of Office 2007 Beta
Hi - I downloaded the Beta version of Office 2007. There was a major problem
however as it made the upgraded version of Outlook impossible to use. I had
to therefore uninstall the whole thing and then my Office 2003 was dificult
to get working too.
I use XP Home, and would very much like to use Office 2007 as I am a writer
using Word all day.
Outlook would not load correctly in the B...

Trouble-shooting search
I have WDS 3 beta installed, seemingly properly, but instant search fails:
I get 0 hits. The relevant folders and file types are checked. Almost
50,000 items have been indexed, but I left it overnight, and the same
number or almost the same remain showing as indexed. (Unfortunately I
didn't record the number, but I think it's the same.) Index Options says
"Indexing is paused" and ha...

sku151.cab file not found
In trying to update my OneNote 2003 to SP2 (I don't have SP1...can I go
straight to SP2?) I keep getting an error about the above file not found. It
asks me to put in the original CD. The problem is that I cannot find the CD.
It is somewhere in this house...unless one of my 4 boys "accidentally" threw
it away. Anyhow, how do I get beyond this message/prompt and continue with

Can't open links on outlook 2003
Any time I attempt to open a link on outlook (link, ebay picture etc) it now
goes to a Word scrren that the title says, "Locate link browser". What did I
do to get this and how do I go back to opening links? Thanks so much for

Onenote 2007 Beta and IE7
When grapping a screen clip using Onenote from an IE& session the reference
line for the screen tip puts the name and url for the first tab in a multi
tab session even if the clip comes from another tab.
Is this an IE or Onenote issue?...

What's being indexed
I tried modifying what WDS 3 beta indexed, but could not find a way to
uncheck most items. Laboriously, I did deselect all file types other than
..one. The combination didn't seem to take, so I eneded up reinstalling
WDS. No surprisingly, it looked like I had to rebuild my index, which I am
now doing. But I don't understand what Indexing Options tells me are the
index targets. Since...

How Ready is Office 2007
Everybody seems to be using OneNote 2007, and not just to test it. What
are its dependencies; must one also install Office 2007 to use OneNote
2007? When Microsoft says these products aren't ready for basic use, are
they just playing it safe, as with IE7, Beta 3, which seems perfectly
ready for basic use? Or do you really need continue to rely on Office 2003?

Unable to install OneNote 2003 demo
I've never used OneNote before, so forgive me if this topic has been
covered to death, but when attempting to install the OneNote 2003 demo I
get a "fatal installation" error. My research on the Web seems to point
to a problem with RAID HD setups, but a friend has RAID 0, as do I, and
runs it with no problem. The only difference between her system and
mine is that she has Office 2003 ...

Trouble installing ON2007 Mobile
I cannot install mobile to my PocketPC with WM2003 Second Edition on it. Is
that the problem? I can see nothing on the site that limits it to WM5.
Error is on my mobile says that the .cab file is not a valid Windows CE
setup file.

Remote location problem
I have updated my laptop and previously used OneNote with my USB stick as the
"remote location". I travel between a laptop and a desktop and this was the
most efficient way to access it, rather than having to save it to the stick
each time and reload on the other computer. However, I can't choose the
remote location I want. I had no trouble with my old laptop but my new
laptop comes up ...

cannot activate Follow Up Flags
i cannot activate the Follow Up Flags when picking up the inbox items. I can
add the flags when replying the email but no color choice. I think this is a
hotmail set up issue but I am a premium payer for the hotmail. MIcrosoft
should provide this but I dont know how to reset the hotmail for the complete
Follow Up Flag feature...

PDF export - missing links
Exported PDFs from ON pages do not have active links - different from
the result of producing PDFs with the current versions of Office and
the "Acrobat PDF Maker" add-in.
For me it's a most important thing to produce PDFs with active links
and that's part of the compulsory standards for papers presented by
our students.
Any chances to see this cured?

PDF export bug
When the highlighter tool was used to highlight some text on an ON
page, in the exported PDF the highlighted colour sits on top of the
text and makes the text unreadable.
This would need to be fixed.

E-Mailing Onenote 2007
The e-mail a page function does not work on my computer. No reponse when
selecting the command or button. Was wondering if this is a known problem or

Connect site flaky? All MS sites slow?
Is anyone else having trouble with the various MS sites? I have the same
trouble with .connect -- mentioned in a message a few days ago: click "Submit
Feedback" and the page just reloads. It is not a blocked pop-up as far as I
can tell.

When I print the booklet in Outlook, on some entries in the email field it
will print the person's name rather than their email address. How can I

How do I get it to stop spellcheck?
I don't have "Check spelling as you type" selected. And yet, every time I
open OneNote 2007 Beta2, it gives me a red underline for any word it doesn't
recognize. So I go into Tools/Spelling/Spelling Options, check it, then
uncheck it, and it stops.
Annoying.
Any way to get it to not spell check at all?

Outline without labels?
I'm trying out the OneNote 2007 Beta, and liking it. In some pages I want
to organize my notes in outline form, but the only way I've found to do that
is to start lines with labels (letters or numbers). IS there any way to
create an outline without any letter or number labels?

Re-add TRAVEL tab
In trying OneNote for my first time I was trying to plan a trip. I clicked

A Problem with Side Notes and a Workaround
Side noteSide Notess are intended to provide quick notetaking access from
the tray. Yet, launching from the tray is not faster than launching either
a side note (onenotem.exe) or onenote.exe from the menu. It seems that
_only_ the icon is stored in the tray. How long is that? On my system,
seven seconds, consistently.
The way to get truly immediate access to OneNote is to launch one...

ON 07 - Formattin mail-address
Where a URL typed in ON is automatically turned into a hyperlink, this
does not work with mail-address.
I would expect that a piece text in the e-mail address syntax could be
detected and a link be created automatically.
My workarounds so far:
1.) Put "mailto:" as a prefix. Then the address is formatted the right
way.
mailto:taesler@gmx shows correctly.
The prefix can be deleted there...

Turn off automatic numbering
When typing a "1." ON starts automatic numbering of paragraphs.
Contrary to Word there is no way to turn it off.
IMO in the Format options there should be a "none".
It's the same with bullet points.
Does anybody know a workaround?
Chances for having this improved?
