Link to FTP Site
I am trying to create a hyperlink in a word doc to link to an FTP site. The
link doesn't work in Word. It tells me the site cannot be found. If I save
the Word doc as an HTML file, the link works just fine. Any ideas on how I
can get it to work in Word?

control image file type on save from DOC to HTML
I've got a doc file with a grouped image.
When I save the file as HTML, the image is converted to a gif format.
It looks awful.
Is there a way to control the filetype that Word selects to save the

Ideas for a User Manual
I need a really slick looking format for a user manual. Nothing too flashy
though. Does anybody know of online examples I could look at for ideas (or
to steal outright)? Could you please post a URL if you do?
I may also want to do this so the output is in the format of a Windows Help
file. Anybody know of cheap/free software that would help me do that?

font-size in percent
I hope this is the right place to ask this question. I'm making some
simple web pages in Word for XP. It is working well, except that in
IE 6, changing the font size doesn't change the size of the font. I
found out that if I manually replace font-size in points with
percentages, it worked correctly in IE. Is there a way in Word that I
can tell it to embed percentages for font-size so I wo...

Problem with Page Header in dynamically generated Word Doc
Hello
I am trying to generate a Word document dynamically from an ASPX (.NET)
page. It's all working fine except for the Page Header and Footer.
According to the documentation the MSO-HEADER directive can have either
a URL or a STRING value. If I try using URL (e.g.
mso-header:url("header.htm") h1;) and create the header and footer in
the Header page this causes an error when the word do...

Web page save, creates whole new folder of files in Word
Hi,
I have my main index page which includes various pics, but when I save the
file as a web page it creates a whole new folder which includes a bunch of
files for eg. index_filelist, index_image0001, index_image0002 etc etc.
It does this for every page I have images on. When I click save I only want
to save the main index page and use the pic files which I already have, not

Word Conversion to HTML creates folders...help
Hi:
I am using MS Word 2000 in an XP environment. I am trying to use the
Batch Conversion Wizard to create html from about 100 .doc files.
When I run the Wizard, it creates the files, but then creates a folder
for each file. That folder is named sonmething like MyFile_files.htm.
In that folder are two useless files: (for me) filelist.xml and
header.htm.
HOWEVER, although my n...

Maintaining web links
I use MS Word (2003) to maintain some web pages with simple links. For
some reason, MS Word will occasionally transform my links from simple
filenames to full, hard-coded filenames. I've never been able to
figure out why or when it will do this.
For instance, I have all my web files in the same directory on my PC.
In index.htm, I have a link to another web page, my.htm, which is in

Why don't the Table borders disappear?
I'm new at this web page building so I'm sure I have a lack of understanding
here somewhere.
Here's my problem. When I look at someone else's web page I can see how they
set up what appears to be a table to me, to organize their images and
buttons and whatever. Now when you bring this html file up with Internet
Explorer, the Table borders disappear (which is what you want). But now when...

Links Get Reformatted During Editing
I recently upgraded from Word 97 to Word 2000 and I'm generally happy with
the result. However, I do have a significant problem editing web pages. I
have a website of some 9000+ pages that I have always edited using Word 97.
All html pages and their associated graphics are located in a single folder
on the server. An example of a link to a graphic within a page under that
system might be...

I have some general newbie-type questions, and I don't see the answer to

Specifically, I wanted to change my file that was called index.htm, but
wanted to save the original, in case I messed up.
When I changed the file name, I got the message,
