Cells that don't resize when image/text inserted
Hello All,
I need to make a word document that will have a blank table with two
rows and two columns (2x2).
This document will serve as a template to be populated by employees by
entering text into first two cells (first row) and pictures (bottom two
cells).

Updated TOC Does Not Save
I am running Word 2000 and have a Table of Contents (TOC) that I update both
by right-clicking and selecting "Update field" and have also set "Update
fields" in Tools, Options. The table updates correctly but when I close and
reopen the document, the page numbers are incorrect and are the same as they
were before I updated the TOC (both by right clicking and printing). Any

How do I fully justify text in a table cell?
I would like to be able to justify text in a cell so that the text is aligned
with both left and right margins. If there are two lines in one cell, the
first line having 3 words and the second line having 4 words, I would like
the first line to increase the size of the space between the words to fit
within the same margins as the second line....

Problems with Table of Contents
I've created a doc. that is very similar to another ( by using the 'Replace'
function to change one word to another throughout the document). This seems
to have caused a problem for the TOC- it says everything is on page '0' and
will not update. I've tried deleting the table and inserting a new one but it

Autofit is giving me fits
I am using Tables in Word 2002, and Autofit seems to do exactly the opposite
of what I am asking it to do. When I go to Table + Autofit to Window, the
table runs off the right hand margin. In other words, the columns disappear
off the right side of the page. Sometimes a table that is entrely on the
page will do this AFTER I hit Autofit to page! How do I correct this
problem? Thanks...

Extraneous tabs in Table Of Content styles
Help! I have a Table of Contents (TOC) in my document that upon every
update reinserts an extraneous tab stop that I have to delete (CTRL-Q
works). I am using Word 2003, SP-3.
The stop shows up about 1.1 inches from the left, coincidentally the
same spot the TOC 3 style has the first tab (correctly placed).
Problem is one line is so short that this extraneous tab catches the

Suppress Blank Lines in Tables?
Hello. I have a mail merge document with 5 rows (and 2 columns) that may or
may not have data in them. Does anyone know of any way (short of writing
macro code) to suppress the blank lines from printing in the table?

Insert picture into nested tables
If you have nested tables, the OUTER most table having a background color,
then an image is placed onto the INNER most table (Inner most table has NO
background color). The image needs to show above the background color of the
OUTER most table, but behind the text of the INNER most table (You must be
able to write text over the image).

Setting a value to a option button & then calculating the total
I am using MS Word 2003 to create a Word document form.
I'm using tables to insert my form fields.
In one table I have option buttons where the user must select one of
the option buttons in that group. For example:

Pages are duplicating after sorting the table in word
We have a document that has 7 pages of a table. We sorted Ascending for the
first column. We just selected the first column, clicked Sort Ascending on
the Tables and borders toolbar. When we did this, the first page was
duplicated several times. Why is it duplicating on one computer and not
another?

Tables span pages. The header AND caption should span tables.
The documentation that I am developing now includes many Word Tables. While
the header can span multiple pages, the caption does not. If someone opens a
book in the middle of a table--they can easily lose their place. A quick
glance at the table caption, as in Table 2: Word Tables (continued) would be
helpful.

Microsoft Word 2000 Tables
I am trying to find a way of counting the number of non-blank cells in a word
table column. The table formula =COUNT(ABOVE) returns the total number of
cells regardless of what they contain.
If there is a way of excluding the cell on the table heading row then this
would be better still.
Can anyone help?

Selecting a column: some rows have 2 cells in 1 column?
I have a rows in my table that seem to be totally normal until I
select a table column. Then I get 2 side-by-side cells selected with the
otherwise single table column. Are these 2 cells linked? I don't know why

I have a notepad file, and the text appears to be in columns, but when I put
it in word to put it into a table format each line of text gets put in one
