margins of tables
aaargh!! please help. I have various tables with varying column thicknesses
but the same number of columns. I need to copy rows between tables. The
columns never line up and I am wasting so much time with trying to get them
aligned (dragging columns with ALT key down and/or playing with column
widths, etc). Is there a way of linking the position of the columns in one
row with the row abo...

Table of Contents
After typing out a good deal of a very long document, I found that my left
hand margin is 2cm, but it needs to be 4cm to meet submission requirements.
No, problem I simply used the slide-bar at the top of the document to change
the left margin to 4cms. Other than a few simple formating issues,
everything appears okay. However, in my document I have 3 tables; Contents,
List of Figures ...

Table shadings print in colour when its set to grey on screen
I have use a colour shading to in-fill a cell in a word table. I have set
this to 15% grey, yet when I print, it's printing in pink. Both printer
cartridges are full and I haven't changed any default settings. Does anyone
knwo why or how to correct this please?...

how do i select and format all tables in a document at once
i have a huge document (several hundred pages) with hundreds of tables
exported from a statistical analysis program (SPSS). specifically, i want to
make each table "autofit to contents", because this will reduce the size of
my output by a large amount. i can't seem to find a way to select all tables
at once; thus i cannot autofit all tables to contents at once.

Merging and re-splitting cells
I and many of my fellow users are often bemused by the behaviour of
cells when, for example, a cell from resulting merged cells is later
split again. In some cases the cell boundaries match the boundaries of
un-merged cells in earlier rows or columns, and in some cases they
don't. And how do I tell if a cell boundary very close to a boundary
above or to its left is the same as its predecessor...

adjacent cell selected
I am wanting to select two cells in a big table - one under the other.
However, when I drag the mouse down, the adjacent cell to the right is also
selected. I know this has something to do with the cells not aligning
perfectly but I have tried my best to get them perfectly aligned, even at a
500% zoom. I have tried double clicking on column lines, dragging to set
tabs, but it does not go...

Table Header Problems
I'm trying to repeat row 1 of my table as a header on multiple sheets and I
can't get it to work. I've searched the newsgroup to see if someone else
has had this problem and have tried some of the suggestions, but to no avail.
This is what I see.
Row 1 has repeat as header row selected.
All subsequent rows have that selected, but it's grayed out.

Working in Tables Cause word to crash
I have had this problem in two seperate documents. When working in a table
and doing a lot of cutting and pasting, reformatting etc all tables suddenly
screw up and lose their formatting. Word then crashes (get the 'Not
responding' error message). If I try to reload either the original file or
the autosave copy they open at the first page of the document and then word
crashes.

If I insert an Excel table I get a graph, not the cells I specifie
I've done some kind of mess. I played with the Objet "Convert" and "Activate
as" options in an embedded Excel table in a Word file, and now everytime I
want to insert an Excel table (e.g. 3x2 cells) I get a graph in the Excel
table instead of what I specified. Is there any way to fix whatever I

Merging of cells within a table
We are using a document consisting of tables and cells for outside
typesetting purposes. When the documents come back in (usually 200 pgs. or
more) we do some pagination to the documents ie: merging cells. The document

Pretty simple question....
I start a new table, which supposed to have all entreis in Russian. In
first cell of my table I switch my keyboard to "Russian" and type the
Russian text. Now I pass to second cell. The keyboard language
automatically switched back to English. In other words: in every new

What are my cell borders now?
Hi All,
Am I doing something wrong or is this poor functionality?
In Word 2003, in my table cell:
table > table properties > borders and shading > borders tab > apply
to: cell
Don't you think the current borders of the cell you're in should be
shown? I get no borders.

Funny symbol appears when I cut from internet and paste into Word

cell addresses and formula?
I have a table in word which has a couple of columns headers "Number of
hours" and "Tuition". I want to use the number of hours * 4.5 to obtain the
tuition. I can easily do it in Excel =G4*4.5 but I do not understand how
you obtain the proper cell addresses in Word to perform this. The columns
are adjacent so is there another way?
