Word XP spell check issue with fill-in fields
I am in Desktop support. Our computers are WinXP SP2 and we have Office XP
Pro SP3 installed. One user had a weird spell check issue that it kept
changing to french in the middle of a spell check. We are in the US, and the
default language is English US. I ended up uninstalling and reinstalling to
resolve it. (I wish I had looked here first for a similar post with US vs UK
english.).

Ignore Once missing in spell check
When I perform a spell check (F7) and Word detects a miss-spelled word the
“Spelling and Grammar†box opens. Where the “Ignore Once†button normally is,
the “Undo Edit†is displayed instead. If I click on the “Undo Edit†button,
it will then change to “Ignore Once†and I can proceed as normal.

remove bad words from dictionary
Somehow, my Word dictionary thinks "Oaklahoma`" is a word. I have
checked the custom.dic file, and learned from help how to make an .exc
file, but I am very interested in a global search to remove "`" or any
other thing that upsets my applecart. Any advice would be gratefully
appreciated.

Repost: Different colour during spell check
Hi all.
Most of my question have been well answered here (thanks Jay, Cindy et al)
but one remains.
*Sometimes* during a spell check, where queried spellings usually show up in
red (and grammatical ones in green), the queried spelling shows up in
*black* for part of the document. Why, and what does this mean? (Word 2000)

Odd spelling effect
Hi All
Word 2000, today's puzzle: When I edit a document that contains eg foreign
names, I frequently 'ignore' rather than 'add', so the custom dictionary
doesn't get changed. But when I've passed through the document once, it
seems that *sometimes* on the next F7 the system 'knows' I've ignored the
given words and now doesn't find them. That's not too puzzling, but there's
more! If...

information contained in them. I want to copy the pages into Word and then

Strange spelling message
Hi all
I've been advised by a very respected member of the word.newusers ng to post
this question here. Apologies to anyone who may have read it already.
I'm using Word 2000 on XP (though this also happened on 98SE). On *some*
documents only, when I spell check (F7) I'm getting the message 'Word cannot
find the spelling file MSSSpell32.dll. I also get a similar message about a

One language - not enough!
I have to spell-check a large book written in 2 languages (some 30% to
70%). The problem is, that words in those 2 languages are very
intertwined (it's a grammar book), plus they are very often wrong
marked, as belonging to the other language.
So what I get, when trying to spell-check the document, is that Word
underlines not only misspelled words from language "a", but also
correct ones f...

Word 2003 Auto Correct/Spell Check Not defined
I'm using Word 2003 with Canadian English set as my default yet my Auto
Correct defaults to English (U.K). ?? Any idea why that is? Also sometimes
Outlook 2003 uses English (U.S.) instead of (Canada). Why does Word use
different languages when I want only English (Canada)? Thanks in advance for
any and all responses.
