Can a hyphen be used to indicate a range of notes.
In Word, is it possible to use the note function (i.e., to have the footnotes
or endnotes linked to the note reference marks) but also use a hyphen or 1/n
dash to indicate a range in the references marks? In a range of superscrip
note reference marks (e.g., 5,6,7,8,9,10) it is typical in publishing to use
a 1/n dash (5-10), but if you delete the middle numbers (6,7,8,9) to insert

custom 3 ring binders pages + printing them.
How do I set pages for a small size 3 ring binders? The sheets are standard
6" X 9 3/8". As well, how does Word know to change the gutter margin for
every second page since they would have to be printed on the "other" side of
the sheet? I looked for a template but didn't find one. ...

how to enlarge Cross-reference dialog box
hi all,
wxp pro sp2, office 2003 sp2,
i am using Insert -> Cross-reference function, which brought up the
Cross-reference dialog box (the one where it asks for Reference type:, Insert
reference to:, and For which caption:, and etc). is there a way to enlarge
or at least widen the width of this (Cross-reference) dialog box? maybe there
is somewhere a key somewhere in the registry ...

how to cross reference multiple but sequential captioned figures
hi all,
wxp pro sp2, word 2003,
i have some figures that i have labelled using built-in caption function in
word 2003. in the text, i have used the Insert -> Cross-reference -> Figures
(with hyperlink) e.g. "Figure 2 showed the result diagrammatically..." where
clicking on Figure 2 in-text will bring me to the actual Figure 2.

Number format field
In the Format, Styles and Formatting, Format Numbering, Outline tab,
Customize dialog box the Number format field contains the proposed format.
In this case, "1.1.1"
The "ones" in the format are shaded, I assume this means they are fields or
macros or something. Is there a place where I can look at the code behind
the numbers? I'm trying to figure out which ones to delete or move aro...

Page background color
Thank you for all who the reading this in advance.
I use Omniage 15 to scan in a large document that required making the
scan a little bit more darker and a resolution of 600. This caused
each page to be a light blue-gray when saved as a word 2000 document.
I now have 76 pages that look like blue gray and I am unable to find
any way off changing them back to white. I view these pages in...

Word 2003 Book Fold Problems
I've read the book fold posts here but nothing has helped yet.
I run an IT Dept for goodness sakes, but I just cannot seem to make this
work. I'm about to go out of my mind and hope someone can help.

Formatting problem with page breaks
I'm working on a document, comprised of several "Section" documents. Each
section has its own cover sheet. To differentiate between the flow of
content, there is a page break on each cover page, to ensure that the section
content begins at the top of page 2.
However, because of the placement of the page break, there is an H2 [blank]
line on the cover page, and the H2 heading at the top ...

Inserting a new label in an existing page of labels

Gray Margin Markers - but no language settings
Help! I have read all the posts about the gray margin markers. I have
checked and unchecked the text boundaries. And I have looked for the
"language settings" under MS Office Tools in the Start Menu - but it's not
there on my computer! How do I get rid of these margin markers? (They

Why does my word 2003 document not go to page 2 when I type?
When I type a document on Word 2003, I can get through one page only. Once I
am finished typing through page one, it is supposed to ge directly to page

text with line break at end is not justified correctly
Hi.
I have certain paragraphs of a document that are justified. I need to be
able to add line breaks into these justified paragraphs. When I do this the
line that preceeds the line break ends up looking like it has the
'Distributed' allignment rather than looking Justified. This is a big problem
when there are only a few words on the line as they get spaced right across

Word 2003 - Problem with page template when opening Word 2003
When I opened Word 2003 the page would automatically open in the Print Layout
mode and the cursor would appear where the top margin (2.54cm) and left
margin (2.24cm) intersected and when when typing the top, bottom and side

Japanese Language Word 2003 - Note separator

I have a user in Japan with a problem. As we are both using the same image
i was able to recreate the problem on my PC after changing all the regional
settings on my PC (Win XP pro).

Change location of headers between layout
In my Word document, there are two layout formats: in portrait and lanscape.
This present an issue with location of the headers and footers which tend to

odd section break causes blank page
I have a document that is divided into several pieces "front matter" and a
main document with several chapters. I'm betting that each of these will be a
section by the time that I'm done, so I'll speak in those terms.
The first section is the title page. (1 page)

Can't undo or delete extra space between lines and paragraphs
Weird Problem!! Line spacing is set to singe. Line spacing before and after
paragraph is set to 0. Vertical alignment is set to top.
Every line and paragraph has an extra line below it. I did a detect and
