There is a bold, horizontal, dotted line in the middle of my document. I

How to prevent the style from changing from the previous paragraph
After entering text in a paragraph (using for example Arial, 10 pt.) I hit
the Enter key to start another paragraph. However, the next paragraph
format/style changes to a bullet point style instead of continuing with the
Arial, 10 pt. style. I can't figure out why the style/format is changing and

HELP!! my page setup changed automatically and won't change back
I noticed a few days ago that any new document I created started typing at
the very top of the page. I tried everything to get it back to normal but
none of the Page layout settings work.

Margin /Page size Error
I am siung office 2003. In my MS word PAge Setup options it shows Margin,
paper size everything in pt instead of inches or centimeter. for example
width 612 pt instead of 8.5" Height 792 pt instead of 11"
I have never seen this problem, anybody can let me know, how can I set them
up in inches? Thanks....

How can I spilit a file into 5 files, keeping the numbering ...?
I would like to have table of contents and numbering for 5 files continuesly.
Because one file would be too huge to have all data in, so I have to spilit
it into few files which come after each other.
Is there anyone how can help me?

Magically appearing hard returns
I have webpages on a server and one day they were full of these hard
returns...some lines had 4 or 5 between each ones...some had 10 plus. As you
can imagine coding on such a page is a major pain and outside of going thru
and deleting them by hand, and risking deleting code as well, ive found no

How do I permanently change default formatting of numbering
I prefer to work in cm and currently my copy of Office 2003 displays margins
etc as the metric equivalent of inches. That is not a problem for margins or
tabs as I've reset these to what I want in normal.dot. However, when it
comes to numbering and bullets, things are set to 0.63, 1.27 etc and
documents always default to having an indent and these settings. How can I

Creating a large booklet
I have checked help and can't figure out how to create
a directory booklet using 81/2x11 paper in landscape
mode so that there are 5 names per page.
Imagine 15 sheets of paper turned landscape and then
folded in half with the fold line on the left. The page edges are
on the right and so each page is turned to reveal both the

How do I make the left hand margin different on the first page?
I am creating a letterhead where the board of directors is listed down the
left side. Therefor, I want the first page to have this list on the left side
but not the rest of the pages. I also want to keep this locked so people

Can I create a booket at half the original size (standard paper)?

dot leader disappears in table of contents
Can you tell me why the dot leader does not display when generating a TOC for
level 1? I have checked the setting and the dot leaders display for level 2
(heading 2), but not for heading 1 levels. I am using the format from

How do I find or add a missing Reading Layout Toolbar (not provide
My new document screen always gives me a Reading Layout Pane on the left
side. Microsoft Help says to use the Reading Layout Toolbar to turn it off;
however my Toolbar menu does not have a Reading Layout Toolbar on it. How

I 'finally' figured out how to change the footer (best way is to go from the

Where is "Style Area Width" setting in Word Beta?
This feature, if it still exists, is well hidden in Word Beta 2. I can't
seriously use Word without it and have had no luck for months in finding it.

How do I stop textbox from jumping to new page in word?

bottom of the new page when a page break is automatically inserted by word it

When maximizing the Word window it jumps halfway down screen.
....so I can only view the top half and the horizontal scroll bar et al are
off the screen.
Minimize and Restore down work as normal.
I have tried dragging the window back up the screen but this doesn't work.
I can't see anything in view settings that fits this problem.
Everything was fine last time I used Word....
