make columns so they type to next page, not to top of next column
Is it possible to have 2 separate columns so that when I fill column 1 with
text... it continues on another page and not into column 2?...

Image Inline with Heading, but not in TOC
Hi All,
I've got a 90-page document with about 90 headings in a TOC.
I'd like to hyperlink all my Headings to other documents, but I'd
prefer to do it with a little image of a document at the right side of
the line the heading is on. Looks nice, but of course the images end
up in my TOC.
Any idea how to do this without the images in the TOC?

endnotes break up
I am creating a Word document using endnotes (first time I've used them).
But they lay out in blocks of text at the end of the document, separated by
"dulled" paragraph marks which I can't remove.
So 20 or 30 endnotes are spread out over 6 or 7 pages, with only about half
of each page taken up by the actual endnotes text and numbers.
Any ideas out there as to how to fix it. (Using MS Word ...

how do I force A2 envelope size
I am trying to print on A2 envelopes (5-11/16 x 4-3/8) and Word will not
allow the size. The return address is missing the first two characters on
every line and it is extremely frustrating. This is a standard "Invitation"
and "Thank You" card envelope size and I am dumbfounded that Microsoft would
make this so difficult. Has anyone discovered a work around for this? I have

How do I make pages numbered as A-1, A-2, etc...
I have a multi-chapter project, where each chapter has been created as a
single word document.
I need to label the pages as A-1, A-2, etc. B-1, B-2, etc. for each chapter
without messing with the chapter headings or otherwise affecting the layout.
I've tried to do this manually, but the page number I type is repeated for

MS Word 2003 Text formatting
When I type in MS Word 2003, I am able to put the title at the top of the
page, but then when I start typing, it starts at the bottom and goes UP -
it's so freaking annoying!! I have messed around with all the formatting
settings, track changes, just about everything I could think of and nothing
gets rid of it. How do I just make it let me type NORMALLY, not from the
bottom-up????...

Markup language for formatting documents
Hi,
Does anyone know of any features in Word that let you use a markup
language in much the same way as TeX or LaTex? I am using MikTex on windows
and finding it rather clumsy. I am willing to learn a new syntax so it
doesn't need to be TeX.

Style for 2 Columns on part of a page?
I am using Word 2002 on Win XP.
I am trying to figure out how to insert "notes" into a training document I
am working on. Ideally the note would be formatted such that in there would
be a line across the page both above and below the note. Then between those
lines, there would be a specific icon in the left margin. with the actual
text of the note aligned with the rest of the document's...

lost tab response in bulleting for mac word 2004
This question has been posted before, but the response, "Set first and left
indent with tabs and backspaces" under autocorrect, doesn't seem to be an
option. Is this because I'm working on a Mac or am I just missing something?
If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it because the disconnect between
the tab and bullets is driving me crazy!...

deleting returns within footnotes
A book length manuscript has footnotes. On each page, at the end of the text
a line is drawn half way across the page; this is good. After the line WORD
2003 inserts 5 enter commands leaving an useless gap between the text and the
footnotes. These enter commands can not be deleted when operating in the

"Page Setup" not working
I can't change margins. Page in Microsoft said to clean up "Normal.dot." I
don't have Normal.dot in any file or folder. I found Normal and ~$Normal. I
run Windows Professional and have Microsoft Office Professional 2003 and

How do I get to choose the custom paper size in Word for printing

When I select the printer and then the page properties and the page size, I

how do I reduce font size of blank lines between paragraphs?
Using Cataneo BT or other elaborate font for presentation documents I find
they look so much better if I go through and reduce the font size of the
blank lines between paragraphs to 8 pt (when the typeface is 14pt.). It also
saves paper!! Is there any way to do this with one action or set up a
