Numbering/style conflict (I think)
I have a fairly simple template. At least I think so. Heading 1 and
Heading 2 are at 0" (not indented). Heading 3 is indented to 1.5
inches.
Heading 1 (chapter level) is numbered. Heading 2 and Heading 3
(sub-heads within a chapter) are not numbered.
I want Heading 3 to indent to 1.5 inches. I really, really do. Trouble
is, when I do it, change the style, save the style to the template,

TOCs--Outline No's vs Master Doc
I'm trying to create a table of contents in Word 2002 for multiple documents
being merged into one. I've used the master document approach in the past
with mixed results, so I'm considering pasting all my doc's into one
composite document and then doing the TOC. However, each doc has sections
numbered with outline style 1, 1.1, 1.1.1, etc., and they get messed up when
I combine them into...

How To Turn Off Paragraph Numbering
Is there any way to specify a global setting to turn off paragraph
numbering? Or is there a way to turn off paragraph numbering for a specific
style?
I think there must be a global setting, because when I had to wipe out my OS
and reinstall, including reinstalling Word, the behavior changed and
paragraphs of all styles started being numbered.
Is this the correct newsgroup to ask this qu...

HELP with styles!
I've recently created new styles in my firm's documents. I modified
the heading styles to want I wanted and it all worked perfectly. I
then decided to create different styles for schedules so that the
numbered clauses in schedules would not appear in my TOC. I created
schedule1, schedule2, schedule3 and 4, and formatted them the same as
my heading styles. Very occasionally one of these s...

Page numbering formats with sections
Hi,
I have 2 sections, with Page X of Y in the footers of both set up as
follows:
Page {Page} of {SectionPages}
At the start of the second section I restart the numbering from 1, so
the page numbers read as follows

Page I of 3
Page II of 3
Page III of 3
As you can see i want the second section to use roman numerals. If

Numbering changing between computers W2000
Hi,
I have a document, about 200 pages in Word 2000. I have finally, after
much reading of this group, gotten all of the heading numbering to
work. The problem comes when I move the document to my laptop to work
at home... on the laptop, my headings (e.g. 2.3.4) all follow chapter 1
(so, 2.3.4 becomes 1.17.4), and my chapter headings disappear
altogether.
Very puzzling... I'm wondering i...

I have a document that I want to add a macro to at run time in a C#

is there a way to edit the macro or create a new one? I need to be able

Finding and Replacing Numbers
Hello
I have a document that has lots of numbered points that were manually
numbered. I would like to use Find and Replace to search for any number
between 1 and 9 that is followed by a full stop and a space and replace it
with nothing.
If anyone can send me the wildcard combination to achieve this it would save
me hours.

Replace numbered outline items with "worded" outline items?
Hi-
I would like to implement outline numbering in MS Word using words to index
sections instead of numbers. For example, the following outline is easy to
do in MS Word:
1. Item 1 heading
1.1. Item 1.1 heading
1.2. Item 1.2 heading
2. Item 2 heading
I would like the following outline instead:
Item1. Item 1 heading
Item1.Subitem1. Item 1, subitem 1 heading
Item...

Resetting numbered list using right click
Ok, this should be a breeze for you MVPs ;)
1. I make a numbered list (1,2,3).
2. I then write another paragraph in say body text style.
3. I then start a second list (4,5,6,7...). Obviously this will start of
numbering from where the previous one left off. (Why this is default
behaviour eludes me).
4. I place the cursor at the start of the first item in the second list,
right-click...

problematic ways are
1) I need more levels per outline. Since my du...

am hoping that someone knows a way around it, or there's some kind of switch?
