TAB through outline numbers
Word2003... I have selected outline numbers. I have clicked on "Set left- and
first-indent with tabs and backspaces". I can go from 1) to a. using tab now
that that option is selected. What I cannot do is get it to go to 2) using
shift TAB or the decrease indent button. There is probably just a step I'm
missing, but I cannot seem to find what it is on my own :( Can anyone help? ...

Non-standard Page numbering and Indexing question
Because of unique needs of my document (230 pages) I am using a manual page
numbering scheme instead of using any of the automated page numbering
features in Word 2003. My problem comes when I need to create an index.
The numbering in the document is offset from the actual Word page number,
i.e. I need for numbering for indexing purposes to start page 1 at actual
page 3 of the Word do...

Paragraph Numbering in word not linked to headings
There is a lot of chatter about this but my beef was as follows. When doing
numbering (not linked to headings which is relativley easy) I would find that
the numbering for different sections of the document would become sequential
when the style was updated. I would have to go through and "restart
numbering" (if it was avaiable. I have not found any threads that address
this other to say...

This happened after my colleague has opened the file, which is saved on

the best way to make Word deal with a complex page numbering system.

Hiding outline numbered levels
I have adapted the outline numbered levels to show headings that are useful
for writing fiction. Instead of showing numbers ( 1.0, 1.1, 1.1.1) my levels
show "Character 1", "Character 2" etc, and I can navigate between characters
using the tab and shift + tab keys. For example,
Character 1: Hello, isn't it a great day? (return, tab)
Character 2: What's so great about it? (return, shift ...

Page x of y
Hello All
I have just noticed that, having gone into the page footer and clicked
insert autotext
Page X of Y
although the numbering appears correctly on screen, when I print the
document page 1 shows "Page 1 of 1", page 2 displays "Page 2 of 2", page 3
displaye "Page 3 of 3" etc. This happens in other documents also. Is it a
bug - and is there a workround?
Many thanks
