place holders in templates
I am creating a template and I want to create placeholders for users to
enter text in.
I tried inserting a field of type fill-in, but that actually prompts the
user with a dialog box. I've seen elsewhere where the field appears with a
grey background and text something like [Text here]. The user can select
the field and put there value in it, and when printed the entered text
prints...

Key Combos for use during editing documents
Consider me a new user after a stroke. I'm using Word 2007 and editing a HUGE
document and am a typist rather than a mouse user. With this in mind you can
see how knowing the Key Combinations for some very repetative actions would
be much appreciated.
The ones I need are all in the paragraph section:

Row numbers
I've been asked to "throw a Word table into Excel" without having the column
headings appear on Row 1 of the sheet. Is there a way to have the table
headings appear ABOVE Row 1?

My page numbers appear fine on screen but print incorrectly, help
I have numbered my pages so that they say Page 1 of 24, Page 2 of 24, etc.
They look fine on the screen but when I go to print the pages come out saying
Page 1 of 1, Page 2 of 2, Page 3 of 3, etc. I can't understand and no help
topic seems to help!...

Normal.dot autorecovery
Is there a way to disable autorecovery saving for Normal.dot without
turning AutoRecovery all altogether? I make a change to Normal.dot
perhaps once a week and don't need it autosaved every 10 minutes.

How do I turn on my MS Word spelling checker
How do I activate my MS WORD spell checker? I works on email messages
picking out mis-spelled words and displaying a list of alternate words below,
but not when I am using MS Word to write letters. There it displays
mis-spelled words underlined in a wavy line when initially typed or displays

Does anyone know if and where I can download a Russian spell-checker for
English version of Word 2007 beta?

I was working on the word document and suddenly the word toll bar
I was working on the word document and suddenly the word toll bar wipes away
and I have tried a lot but the page is coming blank without a toolbar only
the rulers on the top and at side is available rest is the blank page I don’t

Word 2003 not remembering settings
A little help please? I'm using word 2003 and I am have some
difficutly when I customize the tool bar. Specifically, I'll add
subscript, superscript, and insert equation. This works fine.
However, when I close word and open it back up again, these icons are
gone. Any thoughts?

Deleting empty page
How do I delete an empty page?
I have a document with 2 pages; page 2 is empty. I need to delete page 2
to make a mailmerge work.
I have tried to delete the page by selecting it and deleting the result.
That didn't work. I have also gone to the end of the document by
pressing [CTRL]+[END] and then pressed [BACKSPACE] until I got to page
1. Page 2 was still there....

manual duplex and page order problems Word 2003
I have an HP Deskjet 710C, using an MS XP-Home printer driver (there is
no updated HP driver available other than that in XP and the driver
offers very limited printing options as compared to the original HP
driver I used on Win 98SE until I "up?"graded)
Duplex printing is driving me spare!

Index ?? Word 2007
I'm a new user working in Word 2007. I'm working in a very large and growing
document that needs and Index badly.
I've figured out how to Create one and how to mark the selected text
individually but I'm wondering if there is a way to set up a "Master List" of
thing you want marked.
This would ensure that I don't miss an important entry.

Converting docx into doc
I have used Word 2007 Beta for a few days and in the process created a few
document which I saved normaly.
Now that I removed Word 2007, I am unable to open these files under Office
2003 (Word).
The extension is:

Comments option
I insert a comment into a document with my initials. When I saved it, my
initials change to A1, and I am now referred to as "Author," even though my
name is set on the Options > User Information tab. I'm using Word 2003....

Edit Picture?
