The instruction in help does not activate the date autofill feature in Word.

My 'Add to Dictionary' is turned off how do i turn it on?
Could someone please tell me how to turn on the 'Add to Dictionary' as when I
right mouse click on a word I can't do it. Some how I have turned it off
accidentally but don't know how....

why can't I drag and drop text?
All of a sudden, whenever I try to drag and drop text in a Word 2003 document,
a line appears under the text and it won't move. I don't know what I've done
to cause this - anyone have any ideas?...

Where did my symbols go?
under 'insert' I have the 'Symbols' command but when clicked nothing comes up
at all. How do I get my symbols back?
Once again, I have the 'symbols' under the 'insert' command but when
clicked, no symbols appear.

Speech recognition
My XP system crashed and I have done a full reinstall. I have a Maxtor Backup
drive. I don't want to have to train a new speech profile, which it now
wants me to do, and I think I used the little utility program that saved a
back up of my profile in a separate place, but can't find it.
I'm sure I have all the data either on the reinstalled and restored XP or on
the backup drive. Grate...

Word 2003 printing problem
When I try to print a document by selecting File>Print, Word 2003 locks up
and I have to close the program. Excel 2003 prints fine.

Word 2003 Catalog Merge
I can't find the instructions for performing a catalog merge in Word 2003.
The directory merge doesn't seem relevant for my purposes.
I need to populate a table in an existing document with the fields from an
access database. There are about 10 fields and about 100 records.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please.

cannot resize or view images in Word 2003
I have a one page document that is 116KB in size. I've inserted a .gif image
that is only 88KB in size. The image is large in dimensions, but not in file
size. I'm trying to grab the sizing handles (which I've done MANY times
before), to reduce the dimensions of the file, but for some odd reason, this
time the image won't resize. The picture toolbar is pretty well grayed out -

How can I avoid exiting Word when closing a file?
I have been upgraded to 2003 and now when I close a file in Word, the program
exits and I have to re-open Word each time. Any ideas on how to keep this

Document line goes black when I type can't see typing

bullets changing to symbols
This question is for word 2002 and doc-to-help 2000 users, or anyone that can
help.
After I compile in DTH 2000 using Word 2002, my bullets are converted to
symbols. Other than cutting and pasting bullets in the .rtf and recompiling,
is there any other way around this? Thanks

How do I save a paper type so its recognized by multiple printers
Word 2002. Want to know how to save a paper type (i.e. cardstock) in a
document so it will recognize it when using many different printers. It
seems to save it for whatever my default printer is at the time of creation
of the document. But if I change printer direction the page set up returns
to auto select rather than the paper type I have previously selected....

Word 2000 and Word 2003 living together...
Hi!
In a machine running Win 2000 and office 2000 I installed Word 2003.
The Word 2003 has become the default program to open *.doc.
To open a doc in word 2000, I have to insert the installation CD and open
the program first.
My questions are:
1. How do I make word 2000 the default program again?
2. What do I do to avoid using the installation CD (other than copying it to
the hard drive...

Using Word XP while having installed Word 2007 Beta
When I click on documents with the .doc extension it automatically gets
opened with Word 2007 beta. I would like it to open with Word XP, because I
don't want to use a beta version for my "real" work. I sthere any way to do
this short of uninstalling the beta version?
I've tried already doing Open with... and pointing it to Word XP, but to no

Editing long text in an "IF" field
I am working on updating a template which includes an "IF" field.
I need to update the TrueText and FalseText values, however the text that
appears in the document is longer than the length of the editable field
properties (in the "Field" dialog box), which only includes the first few
lines.

headaches with some templates that I am using.

Table of Contents
I have put a table of contents in a set of minutes. When I e mail them out
all the page numbers change to a 2. How can I stop this happening? The only
fix I can find at present is to copy and do a paste special of the table of
contents as unformatted text. I can't expect other users to know how to
update page numbers....
