Creating summary table from detail table
Using Win XP and Excel 2002
This is a simplification of a problem that I'm trying to solve...

Editing scenarios
Hello.....
I did post this question a few days ago but didn't get a reply so I'm really
hoping somebody can help me......
I have created 3 scenarios, all containing details of various bank loans,
interest rates etc.
I have produced the scenario summary report and it worked fine, however, I
have now gone to one of the scenarios and changed some of the figures. When

Pivot table grouping
I'm trying to group columns in a pivot table according to
4-4.49
4.50 - 4.99
5.0 - 5.49
5.50 - 6
In the grouping box I enter 4 as my start at and 6 as my end, with .49 as
the By. Doing so causes the following column heads to appear:
4-4.49
4.49-4.98
4.98-5.47
5.47-5.96
I'm sure it's something obvious that I'm missing. Any ideas?

Date Wont Change in Excel??!
Hi, I have been trying to formate a list of cells to display in the
dd/mmm/yy format when you type a date in the 9/6/04 format, I have
tried applying this as a formula and also right clicking and changing
the format date to dd/mmm/yy and it wont change. In the greyed bar it
just leaves it as what ever i have typed, and if you click on different
formats in the date list it still stays the sam...

Function Arguments
Is there any way of having more than one scenario in an arguement so that the
"TRUE" answer will depend on more than one "IF"...

one cell does not reflect a sum
cell b 87 has the formula =sum(c87:n87); cell c87 has the formula
=sum(c88:c99). both cells are reflecting a sum of "0". b87 s/b $7227.33 and
cell c87 s/b $343. Why are these cells not providing the right sums?...

Excel: have add'l rows entered in sheet 1 always show up in sheet
Using Excel for a database of names & addr: want to use the 2nd sheet of same
workbook to track contributions, so want additions to 1st sheet to show up in
2nd sheet in the correct alpha location.

IF or Lookup
I am trying to tell the cell to display the proper Quarter for the Month typed.
Jan-Mar = Q1
Apr-Jun = Q2
Jul-Sep = Q3
Oct-Dec = Q4
The probelm is IF functions only allow 7 itmes to be added & I would need at
least 8 to properly work. and I tried Lookup & haven't been able to properly
work either.
Any suggestions?...

Not listing more than a range of rows
I have two sheets, one has my equipment database and the other is the results
"Quote sheet". in my Quote sheet I am using the:
=IF(ROW()-1>MAX('Equip Database'!A:A),"",ROW()-7)
in the first colum and row 8 (A8), then use the:
=IF($A8="","",VLOOKUP($A8,'Equip Database'!A7:L1000,COLUMN(),0))
in the rest of the cells on the same row (B8, C8, D8 etc.)

trying to add up disparate transaction data
Hi All,
This is my first post to the Excel help forum, so hopefully I am at the
right place. I was perusing it, and it seemed so!
I am a small biz owner and have uploaded a bunch of data out of my Point of
Sales system, which is based on an Oracle db. The data is proprietary and 'I

Adding rows?
Hello everyone!
I have a spreadsheet full of data (560x15) and I would like to add one new
row bellow each one existing (1120x15).
Can I do it? (I can manually select rows one by one having CTRL pressed and
then insert Insert Row, but it takes a lot...)

Help with Excel
There are 100 students and their grades are calculated by (example:
factor (5.9) x score (3). The factors range from 5.9 to 6.9 and the
score from 1-5. The factor could be based on analytical writing,
Quantative, Verbal, so on. There must be a way to calculate these
scores with a lookup function instead of typing in a formula like the
example above.
Another example: Quantative factor: 6....

Convert 2 digit month to 4 digit years and months
How can i convert a 2 digit number of months to a four digit showing years
and months?
35 = 0211
24 = 0200
05 = 0005
I have a series of numbers containg months, like 35. I want it to come out
to years and months 0211. 35 months is 2 years and 11 months. I want it to
show 0211.

Match duplicate data in 2 columns
I am trying to find a faster way to complete my variance reports. Up until

Shading alternate "groups" of rows?
I know how to use e.g. MOD functions to conditionally format alternate rows
with shading, but what is the best way to do this if your data is in groups
so that you rather than have alternate rows of grey and white shading, you
might have 5 items in one group that you want grey, then 3 in white, then 7
of grey etc, based on the value in a cell

TimeSheet! Working PM to AM
I'm making a timesheet and it's working good.
But I can't work out how to calculate mu working time from ex: 15:00 to
18:30 lunchbreak and then 19:20 to 02:00. The calculated anser I get is
"-13.83"

Cells are selected but aren't displayed as selected
Hi,
Usually when I select a block of cells, they are highlighted to show that
they are selected. For some unknown reason they now won't show the
highlighting even though they are selected. I have obviously clicked
somewhere I shouldn't have and turned it off!
Can anybody please tell me how to turn the highlighting ON again!

can a1 reference style and r1c1 style be used in same formula?
I need to use a formula like sum(c1.c5)/r[4]c[-1].
Since as and when I add any rows between row 1 & 5 the formula should
automatically change to sum(c1.c6) but the cell as a divison should always be
the value in the cell 4 rows down in B column....
