how do i create a new check box in excel?
I'm trying to create a new check box in excel. I'm able to place the box in
a cell, but not sure how to use the formula function. DO I have to create a
macro? The basic formula I'd like to use is if the box is checked, I want
another cell to read, "verified." In addition, I want the entire sheet
protected, other than the check box option. Can someone help? THis is my

Day Number For 365 Day Year
How can one determine the correct day of the year, based on a 365 day year?
I can use ‘DAYS360’ to find the number of today’s date
=DAYS360(1/1/2006,9/20/2006,FALSE) will yield ‘259’. But the actual day
number based on a 365 day year is 263. I don't care about a 360 days year (I
don't live there!). Again, how can I calculate the actual day number based
on a 365 day year?

SUMPRODUCT returning incorrect result
Hi,
I'm using sumproduct and also index, match formulas/function with correct
result in some area of my workbook, but with incorrect result in another area
of the workbook.
When I use:
SUMPRODUCT(--(sheet1!col1=sheet2$bw$9)*(sheet1!col2=sheet2$A11)*........(sheet1col6)) I only get a zero '0' back.
When I use:
SUMPRODUCT(--(sheet1!col1=sheet2$bw$9)--(sheet1!col2=sheet2$A11)--...........

Summing unique values
How can I sum the unique values (project ID's) in a list (project time log?)
Background:
A sheet in the workbook contains the Project Time Log with the columns:
Project ID, Date, Work Days (ex: 0.25 would equal 1/4 of a day.) A single
entry would be something like: SalesReportAugust, 9/22/06, 0.5. The

Function to move text >65 characters to next row in column?
Hi,
I'm looking for a way to limit the number of characters in a string of text
to 65 within a cell, so that characters > than this move to the next
row(cell) in a column. This is so the data passes validation on import to an
oracle database. I have tried the text to columns wizard but that moves the
data to the next column. I have also tried =left function and validation to

compare data in 2 worksheets
I have two separate worksheets with similar data, Worksheet1 and Worksheet2.
Columns A - F in each worksheet contain data. Column A in Worksheet1 and
Column A in Worksheet2 contain an account number. How can I compare the

I have an excel file with one hundred graphics. The data for the graphics are
put in the very first sheet. Behind the data I would like to have a button to

My Excel cols have #s, not letters. How get letters?
Sometimes our excel docs have their columns mysteriously switched from a
letter heading to a # (and rows are numbered) so that formulas cannot be
done. This "column numbering" seems to be contagious. If you have another
excel doc open, its cols switch from letter headings to #s. Any ideas? Thanks!...

Take out judges scores
Am totaling scores for each judge for a contest, and each entry is
judged in 3 categories. Need to sum the remaining scores, by tossing
out that judges scores.
We need to disregard all numbers from Judge 2 in the total because they
have the lowest total score.

Change years to months in loan amortization template
I downloaded the MS Loan Amortiztion template. I'm having a problem
because it only allows me to enter years for the length of the loan.
Some of the loans I have are not even years (37 months, for example),
but the template won't allow me to enter this. Can you please tell me
how to make changes to accommodate this? Thanks.

Rolling data
The sheet calculates 6mo totals and averages. Each month, a new column is
inserted and added to the totals & average, while the one from six months ago
is dropped. (column is retained for other reasons, just no longer included in
these calculations).
Is there a way to do this without having to update the column references for
the calculations every month?

is there a way to calculate an absolute value for a number in a cell? for

Maintain or Lookup Formats
Hi - I'm trying to retain or obtain formats when performing a lookup
function. Essentially I have a list of Accounts and Accout Reps. Each Rep has
a different 'Status' for each account (Primary, Secondary, Tertiary). This
varies per account, so I've colour coded them Green, Yellow and Red. Now I
