Change INSERT FUNCTION icon left of formula bar to = sign?
In excel 2003 the = sign to the left of the formula bar has been changed to
the INSERT FUNCTION key (or it has on mine anyway) and I want to change it to
the = sign as per earlier versions as I find the INSERT FUNCTION key long
winded, can anyone help?...

How do I add custom colors to pallet
Hello,
I would like to add specific shading colors and font colors to my

double clicking .xls file doesn't open application
I just loaded MS Office 2003 and have found that when I attempt to open
documents (files) saved in Excel I get the following error.
Error message: Windows cannot open this file. "To open this file, Windows
needs to know what program created it. Windows can to online and look it up

Need a good Excel diagnostic tool
I'm looking for a diagnostic tool that I can use to analyze Excel files in
order to detect logical problems and possible file corruptions. I've been
doing some research on the internet, but havent come across anything that I'm

Restrictions on size of XL file?
Hi,
Are there any restrictions on the size of an excel file?
I am putting together a large workbook (15 tabs, each with about 1000 lines
in them, with most cells performing lookup calculations), which will
constantly be added to, and (as ever!) its critical that this workbook works
correctly.

Spreadsheet prints different on different machines with homogenous printers
We have built some spreadsheets on one computer using Office 2003 and
got everything aligned just perfect, however when we save it to disk
and take it to another Office 2003 it prints out differently, moved in
one direction or another even though both machines are using the same
exact printers
Both Excels are running default setups
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

How can I highlight the cell I'm working in?
I am working in a very large worksheet and often cannot locate what cell I
left off at while I scroll to see other data. Is there a way I can change
the display so that the cell I am working in will change to a certain color
or the cell will be temporarily selected with a thicker border?...

Pick Lists Problem
In my spreadsheet I have a drop down created using the Data,Validation
commands...it works just fine...I press the little arrow and get the proper
selection...however if I select the cell and right click to get the context
menu, the "Pick from drop down list" command does not show the proper list of
values...it appears to show the 3 lines immediately below the active

Excel 2003 link path is incorrect
After upgrading to Excel 2003 from Excel 2000, the paths to the links changes
and the numbers in the cells show random numbers. The links are to other
Excel workbooks. All the Excel files are on the network drive and when the
path to the source changes, it shows it going to the C: drive instead of the
network drive. So I relinked all the cells to the correct path and still had

Can I change column headings A,B,C etc to words
I sort of remember being able to change the column headings ('A', 'B',

Help:Running a macro in one excel workbook from another workbook
I am trying to execute the following given macro from the current workbook.
The macro opens the workbook "2148.xls" and waits there. It does not proceed
to run the macro "NextDay" as given in line number 3.

Linking problems between two workbooks - Excel 2000 SP3
I have 3 users in my office who are having problems with Excel workbooks and
linking. They open one of the workbooks, and they click on 'yes' to updating
the links message. However, they get a 'unable to read' error message and it
never finds the link to file. I've researched this problem for a day now, and
the only workaround is to first open the link to file, and then open the
workbook...
