Missing menu items
My Excel 2003 is missing the <List> submenu from the Data menu, even though
I have turned on the display of all menus. I noticed that the menu
displayed in the spot where the <List> should occur is a Mappoint 2004
integration menu. I tried removing the Mappoint COM add-in, but it did not
restore the menu. Anyone have any suggestions? I haven't tried
re-installing yet. If I do...

Excel/Office Security

Excel 2003, SP2, with the latest updates.
This one has been getting on my nerves and I am really hating it now. I
understand the purpose for it, but when I only use the application to open
my own files, it's rather quite annoying to have to go through the security
dialog box each and every time I go to open the file.
Security setting...

Opening Excel and chosen file from Explorer
Windows XP Pro ... Office 2003
My issue is very similar to the "Gandalf" issue just posted. If I open
Excel directly from a menu, and then open the desired file using File/Open,
then all is well and functional. Excel works perfectly.
However, if I seek out and choose an Excel file using Explorer and attempt
to open that Excel file with a double click, then Excel opens, but the
back...

Setting Shortcut Keys
Hello all,
Is there any way to specifically set shortcut keys to buttons
(programmatically or by tweaking the registry even)? I would like to
set Excel's "Format Painter"
and "Center" buttons to the same key combos as Word's (Ctrl + Shift +
C) and (Ctrl + E).
Unfortunately, Excel isn't as resilient as Word when it comes to
assigning hot key combos (for those that don't know, please c...

How can I selectively stop creation of Excel *.xlk files?
I have financial workbooks for each year; for only the 2 or 3 latest do I
want backup files. Unchecking "Save AutoRecover... " doesn't do the trick.
I'm not referring to what's saved in "C:\Documents and
Settings\xxxx\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\", but to the *.xlk files in
the working folder.
Also, is AutoRecover responsible for the extremely annoying, sporadic
disappearance of...

Embedded status lines should eliminate annoying popup "OK"windows
"OK!" A design flaw in Excel prompts users to verify commands (such as the
results window after find/replace the contents of a cell) and waters it down
by giving the results of the action. This window is unnecessary and watses
time. Incorporating this feature into the active window instead of as a
separate pop-up would streamline performance and remove the need to second
guess the user's...

Excel 2003 ~ How to change the default units of measure?
Hi all,
In Excel 2003, I want to change the default units of measure from
"centimetres" to "inches" (specifically the Margin widths in Page Setup). In
Word 2003 it's very easy - there's a setting under Tools/Options/General,
but nothing similar seems to exist in Excel. Can anyone help please?
