Excel Upgrade
Just got a new laptop, but it didn't come with Excel. I am running Micrsoft
Windows XP Media Center Edition. My version of Microsoft Works is 8.5, which
was installed with Microsoft Suite 2006. Saying that the version is 8.5
(this version was not specified as a requirement on the site), do I still
qualify for the "Upgrade" version of Excel 2003? I'd hate to buy it and have
it turn ou...

excel versions
I need to develop a MI report in excel. However, the version on my
computer is version 2003, but persons who are going to look at it only
have version 97. I've tried to create a test sheet on my computer and
requested my user, who's got version 97, to open it. As expected, he
was not able to open it.
Is there anyway I can create the report in 2003 but the file is to be
viewable in 97?

How to access the error log?
How do you access the error log when you get an error message saying:

Startup Workbook
I have preferred format for my start-up workbook. I have it saved in the
book.xlt file the XLSTART folder. I recently changed machines. I save my
book.xlt to the xlstart folder but I now get a different file when excel
starts up. The book.xlt works fine when adding a new workbook, the only
problem is the startup file. Any ideas?

date formatting error
My spreadsheet has several columns with dates entered. Just today the data
is reading 38986 instead of 09/26/2006. I checked the formatting and it is
set up right. Is there something else I can update so these dates appear
correctly?

How can I use MS Word commands in an MS Excel toolbar?
I use Excel primarily for its table--column format capabilities. The columns
are typically filled with words, descriptive phrases, etc. I rarely, if
ever, use Excel's mathematical calculation features. There are a number of
applicable Word commands that I'd benefit from in Excel, but I can't seem to
import them into the Excel toolbar. Can anyone suggest a plan of attack?

When you choose "find" in excel 2003, you can change the option to search by
row and look in value? Can you modify excel to have the default option to be
to search by row and value?...

unshare workbook
I put together my first shared workbook. I want to do some formatting, but
when I unshare the workbook I get the message that other users changes will
not be saved even if I reshare the workbook. Does this mean that others can
never enter data in the workbook again if it is reshared? I don't quite
understand what this means. Help...

how do I remove zone punches from numeric fields
I have a customer who sends a proprietary file to me at Timex Corp. The data
is from an old system. When loaded into excel, there is an alpha code or a
special character in the low order units position of the fields. This
indicates whether the amount is positive or negative. For instance, 0006688B

I make wreaths etc. to sell I need to make list to put with the items when I
sell them. Exp,price, I usually can put four on one sheet of paper with clip

How do I enable EMAIL in Excel and Office products!?!
I'm running Office 2003 SP1 and I have the "send to" choice in the file
menu but so far I've not found one other enduser here that has that
menu choice. (we use Lotus Notes)
Everyone is a mix of Office 2002 and 2003. I'm having a hard time
finding info on setting it up.

how do i change tab highlight default color or contrast in 2003
The contrast on the sheet tabs in Excel 2003 is Minimal. I have tried
changing my xp theme etc to no advantage. I remember in previous version the
tabs would almost be a different shade. I work with groups sometime and this
visual is important. Is there a setup function or default that can be

Upgrading from Office 2003 Small Bus to Office 2003 Pro
I recently upgraded to the Office 2003 Professional version from the Small
Business edition. But the XML features of the Pro version do not appear to
be available to me in Excel. In fact, in the "About Microsoft Excel" screen,
it still appears to be using the Small Business Edition.

Select All missing, Ctrl-A not working (Excel 2003 SP2)
The Edit menu does not contain a Select All item.
Using Ctrl-A does not Select All, if there is an area to select. For
Example consider range (A1:A8) with data in each cell except for A3 and A6.

Placing the cursor on A5 and typing Ctrl-A only selects cells A4 and A5.

Customized Toolbar Deployment for Excel 2002
Hi-All of my users need to use an in-house, customized toolbar in Excel. Is
there a way I can mass deploy this toolbar, complete with button names,
without having to configure it at each individual workstation. Also, is

Use the Merge & Center Button with unprotected Cells - sheet prote

HELP! Two excel windows
I recently installed Hyperion Smartview and ever since then, every time I
open an excel worksheet (whether or not it is linked to smartview) an extra
worksheet (book1) opens! It isn't affecting excel at all, but it is quite
irritating because everytime I save the sheet I am using and close it, it
asks if I want to save book1.
Any ideas as to how to prevent that extra window from opening??...

How can I turn off the clipboard icon when cut and pasting?
When I cut and paste a little clipboard icon follows the pasting throughout
Excel. It constantly blinks and it's there in my way. How can I turn that
stupid thing off? I know I'm pasting. I don't need it to remind me! LOL
