Copying information from one cell to another without modifying it.
Please tell me how to stop Excel from Adding 1 to my data when I copy it from
the first cell in a column to the rest of the cells in the same column. For
example, when I key WC123 and try to drag & copy this value to the cells
below, the result is WC124, WC125, etc..

Need to recover data
Forgot to save a new file
Shut down computer
Opened Excel and hoped to see a file (a la the function in WORD) that was
unnamed that I could open with the data and then save as.
Any ideas - thoughts on places i could look for a tmp. file....would it be
named book1.xls?...

Numbers appear as ##### instead of the actual number, how to fix?
Some of my stydents have entered numbers into cells or done a summation of a
series of cells and they get ###### signs in place of the actual
number...when mousing over the cell with the ###### a fly out appears with

Can my excel doc be made into a calendar?
I have an excel document that is fairly large in my opinion, is there a
way to make the information in the excel doc populate a blank
calendar??
Will need to take a combination of v and h look-up
Is there possibly an applescript out there that can be adjusted??

Importing data
I'm building a datbase using Filemaker Pro for Macs. I can import data
from an Excel spreadsheet into the datbase pretty seamlessly. I would
like to send out an excel template and have people fill in the needed
data (names, phone numbers etc.) I would like to merge all this info
into one excel spreadsheet and then import it into my database. My
question is what is the easiest way to merge all...

Problem vertically aligning multiple rows with tickboxes added using VB.
Hi guys.
I searched for days to find the solution to adding a column of
checkboxes down a table with 500 rows in it - a checkbox at the end of
each row. The good news is that I eentually found that someone had
posted a little VB code that did it nicely. I used some additional
conditional formatting and now each individual row changes colour when
the checkbox is ticked! It's a thing...

Multiple Row to columns
I know this seems so simple...maybe I'm now frustrated due to looking at the
computer screen all day. I am formulating an excel sheet as my data base to
create mail merge. The website that I have gotten the information from pastes

I've created a personal toolbar, which includes specific canned command
buttons, as well as about six "designer" buttons which I created to activate
several formatting macros.
I'd like to recreate this toolbars, along with the embedded macros, to a
different computer.
What is (are) the file(s) I should copy over, and in what folder(s) are
they?

how do I make more then one line of pasted text not move to one cell?
Hello. How do I make one block of text I pasted not go in to 2 cells and if
I want to merge those 2 cells together in to one cell let's say merge 5d in

Removing dead Link
I've got my own *simple* problem
Somehow my workbook thinks there is a link to temporary sheet I was usin=
g.
I can't work out a way to get rid of *the link*
Edit Links - tells me the file (which has gone), but won't let me delete=

nor tell me where it *thinks* it is.

Decimal point
I have a cell that reads 21.59 [for example] but when I click on it, the
data entry field on the tool bar extends that number to 6 decimal places.
How do I get Excel to read the number only as 21.59? Assuming that the two
decimal place version is display only.

Division
Basic one this...but Excel makes it reasonably clear how to add and
multiply, but not how to divide.
I want the values in column S to be those in column P divided by 0.75. How

Auto open a .xlt template
I have my own Menu application that I can easily open files or create new
files based on my templates. (I use CDMenuPro to make this). It's easy to
make a button that open MSWord, then run a macro at the same time to open a
template that I created. But I don't know how to do the same thing in Excel !

I want to match and insert info on 2 different sheets
Really embarassing newbie question:
I have two sheets of data, both sheet have a common identifier "school
code". One sheet has some results (numbers) for each school code that
I'd like to match to the school codes on the other sheet. I can't seem
to figure it out using "MATCH" or "VLOOKUP", what do I need to do?

how do you divide the average of a number into 3 different cells.
i am trying to do a stock and order for work. i have to divide the amount of
sales by the quantity of units in a case to come up with ( cases required to
order). i have done that but i need to average that total into to three

Sorting malfunctioning
A column contains a list of dates in the form: day/month/year.
If the list contains all single-cell days, then sorting in descending
order works fine. However, if the list contains a date such as
24/4/2005 as opposed to 2/4/2005, the date 24/4/2005 always appears
first on the list, _above_ an earlier date such as 1/1/2006!
For example, here is a "sorted" list:
24/2/2005
6/3/2006
3/4/200...

How can I data sort to more than 3 levels
Is there a technique or add-in utility that will let me do a data sort
in Excel
to 4 or more levels at once. Currently you can only do 3 levels, and
then you have to separate the data to do more.
