Greetings..
I am new to site..and to the use of Excel. I have recently started
putting information from the "Daily Racing Form" into an Excel
spreadsheet. I will use this data to work out simple and later complex
formulas for extracting desired data.
I have made cells long enough to hold each field, and there will be a

IF & Vlookup
Afternoon,
I know some one out there might be able to assist me with my dilemna.
In Sheet1 I have a list of 8 digts id numbers in column A and in sheet2
is where I am doing the lookup from.

Minutes
Hi there,
I have a timesheet which works out working hours e.g. Time in 8:52 time out
12.00 the answer is 3.13 so I then manually calculate the minute bit 0.13*60
which equals 8 minutes. Is there any clever way to calculate this to show
hours and minutes?

Multiple functions in a cell help
I am using Excel 2003 and having trouble figuring out the formulas. What I am
trying to do is add a total of 6 cells in a row. Each cell has a different

I need a formula that will SUM values for particular Months within a

Event viewer(System)
Good day!
im using windows xp-sp2,when I try to save an shared excel(excel2000-sp3)
file on the network,i cannot click the standard button on the excel, the
file menu,etc.
i check the task manager all application are running.
then i check the event viewer, on system, i have this warning - "The
redirector failed to determine the connection type."
What does it mean?

Why can't I insert a row in my worksheet?
I am trying to insert a row of simple data into my worksheet. When I do, I
get the following message:
"This operation is not allowed. The operation is attempting to shift cells
in a list on your worksheet."
I don't understand this. I have created lists from the worksheet but don't
have any now. Why does it think I have a list on my worksheet? And, if I have
one, how do I remove it?

Find first previous cell with data

Problem with DSUM (Excel XP)
The formula causing me fits is "=DSUM(Grants,Grants!$E$10,C74:D75)*12"
(without the quotes); it's from a budget worksheet I'm adapting for our
org's use.
I keep getting a "#VALUE" error. When I simplify it down to retrieving a
single value from the worksheet, it does fine. But a DSUM causes the error

How to rotate table clockwise
I have a table with field labels in column A (A2 to A16). I'd like to rotate
this table clockwise, i.e. have the field labels on the top of the table in

Im just curious, Im somewhat new to Excel.
I am starting to do stock market trades.
For Tax purposes, I have to report my cost - and the Revenue gained so that
I can be taxed on only the profit. Not only that, I have to report if it is
long term or short term.

Most hours worked
Hi
I have a workbook containing colleagues' daily hours worked on separate
sheets. I have then created a worksheet totalling how many hours per
week each person has worked. How do I list the names in order of who
has worked the most hours? I have the names in a row and the hours in
the columns. I think I need some kind of auto sort that will display
the names.
