Any Way of Creating a 'Unique Key'?
I'm making a mortgage lending database system for my GCSE ICT coursework
and I have a field in the database called ID Number...is there any way
of making it a unique field i.e. no two values can be the same- any
sort of validation or anything?

Can I lock 2 columns together so that the 2 cells in a row are joined?
Hello,
I want to use Excel to compile a list of my DVDs.
This requires just two columns. The first column will be used to number the
DVD. The second column will be used for the actual name of the DVD.
However, I will want to sort the list in two ways: alphabetically and
numerically.
So the question is: Can I lock these two columns together so that when I

Why use Subtotals 1-11 instead of the built-in functions directly?
I see the need to use 101-111 for Subtotals; e.g. I want to ignore hidden
values.
But, I don't see why I want to use Subtotals 1-11, instead of using the
built-in functions like average, count, max etc. directly.
I do understand that if I use Data>Subtotals, I can later modify the
Subtotals function which may have 1-11.
Please enlighten me. Why would I choose Subtotals 1-11 over a ...

Creating "IF" arguments
I can't seem to firgure out how to set up the following argument in an Excell
spreadsheet!
IF cell B-6 has the value of "C" than cell J-6 = .8*H-6 and cell I-6 = .2*H-6
IF cell B-6 has the value of "P" than cell J-6 =SUM(H-6-E-6)
The part I don't understand is how to incorporate the "IF" condition.

DSUM not pulling the data - why
Using Excel XP.

I'm setting up a budget workbook, and one sheet (5 Year Strategic Plan) has
a DSUM in it under a column labeled "2007":
=DSUM(Capital,'Capital Projects'!$P$3,$E$39:$F$42)*12+DSUM(Capital,'Capital
Projects'!$P$3,$V$17:$W$23)
It shows "zero" as the value pulled, yet when I look at the sheet labeled
"Capital Projects", I see 2 values that should have been...

List for AutoFilter and list for Subtotals have different meanings?
I need to type up a list if I want to use
(1) Date>Filter>AutoFilter or
(2) Data>Subtotals
A sample list:
Month Units
Jan 100
Jan 200
Feb 100
Feb 400
Mar 300
etc. etc.
I find the following interesting.
To do (1) AutoFilter, I have to actually **create** a list i.e.
Data>List>Create List ......

Viewing multiple spreadsheets
I have Excel 2003 Professional. I'd like to look at two spreadsheets at a
time, but each in its own window. Excel defaults to opening each new
spreadsheet as another workbook in the current window. If each were in its
own window, I could have one spreadsheet on the left monitor, and the other
on the right monitor.

Auto transfer of row
I have a list of components to be ordered in each row is a cell with a
order number entered in it. What I want is to copy the row to another
sheet (which is to be displayed at goods) when the order number is

How do i set up check boxes in excel?
I am really green at excel and I do not have a book to find answers in. I
have tried the help feature but I seem to be getting no where.

how do I stop the cell from filling automatically?
I am trying to fill in scores from a golf match in an excel spread. When I
try to enter individual scores I get the # sign for some of the numbers.
This seems to be happening in only one column, so I must have something
turned on to make this happen. It's not happening in EVERY cell in the
column, however. I tried to turn off anything that said auto fill, but it
didn't help.

Excel application.quit in macro problem
I've created a macro that begins with an auto_open importing,
reformatting, and saving data. In the same macro, I have an open excel
form. Next, Im attempting to application.quit the excel wb because it
isnt needed. When I enter a simple application quite before end sub, 30
seconds later, the excel re-opens and runs the process again. Anyone
ran into this before? Any ideas to stop this?

Forms: can a cell itself be clickable?
Hi! I'm trying to create a form for my boss. I'm using the forms toolbar,
but what it does is throw in a check box for instance, but if I change the
cell in any way, the "picture" of the click box stays where it's at. Any way
to change this?

=COUNT(A1:A7,2) returns 4.
I don't understand where the four occurrences of 2 come from.
22.24 = 3 occurrences
12/8/2008 = 2 occurrences
total of 5??
