Links broken - UNC vs drive mapping
Hi all, I have discovered a difference of behaviour which I would be
interested in hearing others' views on...
we have a master spreadsheet which contains links to other workbooks,
some in the same location (or subfolders of) x: and some in a different
location altogether, y:.
All is fine as long as the master is not moved... if it is moved, the
links to workbooks in the same area break,...

Finding and killing all Access queries in an Excel spreadsheet
I've just switched from one Access application to another as the data
source for an Excel spreadsheet, as a result I'm having to swt up all
the links all over.
Inserting the new links isn't a problem, but I can't seem to get rid of
all the old ones. Although I'm pretty sure I've gotten rid of all the
references to the old database I still get error messages about the
path (to the old data...

Link Updates
I am using Excel 2002. I have 9 workbooks which have extensive linking.
Eight of the workbooks auto update the links when they are opened by
themselves. One workbook, however, gives me the warning that some links
cannot be updated when it is opened by itself. Also, I do not get the
warning when the other two linked workbooks are opened at the same time I
open this workbook. Now, the ...

Re-establishing Links
When I open an certain Excel 2003 file with links, I am prompted to update
the links that are in the workbook. Once "Update" is clicked, another dialog
box with the option to "Continue" or "Edit Links?" opens. If "Continue" is
selected, the file opens without updating, and if "Edit Links" is selected,
I'm taken to where I have to re-establish links.
The problem is that no files have b...

can excel view drill throughs in a pivot table
I'm building pivot tables in Excel 2000 based on data cubes from SQL 2000
Analysis Services. Is there anyway to view the drill down from the data
fields in a Excel pivot table? I try doubleclicking in a data field cell
and get a message saying that I can only get detail from rows or columns.

Obtaining a single Access record from Excel input
The standard "Import External Data" function in Excel makes it easy
enough to obtain a single record in Excel from an Access database, but
I'm trying to figure out how to use a figure in the spreadsheet in the

For instance, if I want to put a person's name in a cell and I want a
particular person, I can easily get this with the Query Wizard,

Linking table in Excel to word
Is there a reasonably simple way to link a range of cells in Excel to a
table in Word such that the word table is not messed up by adding a
line above the cell range in Excel?
If I've linked a 5 x 3 table of, say B5:F8 to word, adding a row above
the table in the Excel document will result in the Word version losing
its bottom row and picking up a new one at the top. So it will still
be l...

are together) so I can delete the duplicates.
