Updating Data from Access
If I create a standard pivot table with specific parameters to pull
information from Microsoft Access can it be updated without any
additional manipulation?

transfer data
Please help
How can I transfer (automaticly) data form one cell to another cell. That
other cell contains no formula or what so ever.
e.g. cell A1 is empty, and cell G6 contains the value 12345. How can I send
this value to cell A1 from cell G6 or any other cell.

numbers are not numbers in excel xp
I m sure this is obvious question, but I have been fighting long enough.
On excel xp, after choosing a group of cells, columns, or rows then
Format~Cells~category~NUMBER.
then each number added to each cell, it says number in cell is formatted as
text, bla bla and I need to click 2 times to convert it. Each and every

Excel 2003 calculation problem
Dear all,
version : excel 2003
I just want to a simple minus calculation for all cells in column C using
the formula A1-B2. After that , some of my cells content in column C differ
many decimal places.For example , if A1 = 0.1 , B1 = 0.05 , then after
A1-B1 , C1 = 0.0499999999999998 . I want C1 to be exactly 0.05 , what can I
do ??

Excel opens gibberish on startup -- Please Help

Nested IF-statements
Hi group,
Sinve years I use nested IF-statements in Excel. But I have always had
this suspicion that I go about building them in the wrong way.
Generally I use the function wizard.
First of all I want to take out all zeros that would indicate an empty

Hi,
I'm using Excel 2003
I have a spreadsheet using a ComboBox that allows selection of one of
several sets of data. Each set is a 3 column row of data. I have the
following properties set:

Finding all Combinations...
Hello all...
I have a set of data set up like this...
Column A: 1-10
Column B: 1-4
Column C: 1-6
I would like to have excel calculate and put every possible combination into
a separate cell for me.
So that it look like this... 1 1 1, 1 1 2, 1 1 3,.........8 2 1,.....etc.
Is this possible?

Finding a future date
I need to find the date when several events occur forward from today.
Typical would be the Wednesday in the second week of next May.
Given:
A1 = 2 (second week of the month)
A2 = 4 (fourth day of the week when Sunday = 1)
A3 = 5 (the fifth month - May)
Can you help me with the formula in A4?

Sort Alphabetically
I have six columns of entries. Each column of entries has several headings.
Under each heading the entries are sorted alphabetically but not the
headings themselves.
All is fine except for one list of entries that will not sort correctly.
Whatever I do it will insist on beginning with 'W' then F, I, K, P, S, T and

Stopping spreadsheet save
Hi
We have a spreadsheet that we share among users by keeping it on a shared
location on server. The problem is that we want everyone to be able to
modify the sheet but we want to stop users making copies of the sheet to
avoid versioning issues. Is there a way to do that?

Pivot Tables: Locking Certain Features
I'm looking for a way to prevent users from both adjusting pivot
filters or refreshing the pivot. Does anyone know a way to lock these
features, but still alllow users to move/add/remove fields from the
table or select data within the fields?

conditional formatting question
hello,
I have a list of prices from 2 stores with same part numbers.
I'd like to format the spreadsheet so if the part price from store 1 is
higher than store 2 - make that cell Blue.
The lower price (either store 1 or 2) should be Red.
I've tried this several times but the colors don't change.
I'm using the conditional formatting wizard under the Tools menu.
What am I missing?

Wrap text and templates
I created a template that had some columns with wrap text turned on.
When I save the document as a template and tried to enter data in
worksheets based on the template, the row height would not change to
show all of the text. Even though I turned on wrap text again

Excel 2003 100% CPU Usage
Hi,
I just upgraded a machine from Excel 2k2 to Excel 2k3. When trying to
open a 6.00 MB spreadsheet my system CPU goes up to 98% to 100%. The
system is still responsive to non-Excel related tasks (albeit very
slow) but Excel is hung and becomes non-responsive. The spreadhsheet
works fine in Excel 2k2. The issue can be repeated on any machine with
Excel 2003.

Analyze Survey Questions
Hi Folks - I need to provide counts and percentages of survey data. If
Question 1 has 5 possible answers (1,2,3,4,5), then i need to count how many
1's, 2's, etc., plus calculate the percentage of the counts to the total
number of answers.

Find and Replace
Hi Folks - I have a range of cells that contain a single "character". The
character can be a digit or letter. I would like to prefix the contents of
each cell with the word "department,", so that a cell containing a 5 would
