How do I remove permissions in a database?
For some reason, I have put in place security restrictions (even though I
don't need them) on my access database accidently. Even the Admin user has
no permissions. So I am stuck. I can open the database, but nothing else. ...

shortcut just to access
All the examples of shortcuts using workgroup files I have seen involve an
existing database. I thought though that to be the owner of a database you
have to create it whilst logged on to the workgroup file you want to use to
secure it, so is it possible to just open Access with no database, logging
onto a workgroup, and then create a new database?...

Make mdb Read Only in code?
Hi.
I have not implemented full user security on my mdb, basically because of
the number of problems it seems to cause and there is only a small number of
users. Instead, I have a simple password checking form.
Is there a way of making the mdb Read Only if a particular password is
entered? Is there some code that I could add alongside the password checking
code on the form that woul...

The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file. It is already opend exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
Hi ,
We have access 2003 on Citrix Server. The MSACCESS.EXE file located
in d: drive.
The msaccess.mdb file located for individual user in their profile in
"my document" folder.
We give a shortcut of MSACCESS.exe file to each user profile so user
can launch access.
The problem is:
If only one user launch msaccess and open the msaccess.mdb file it
works fine.
but if one user has ...

How do I retrieve a User PID
I have inherited a group of databases within a domain, where the users and
groups were already set up (long ago, but added to). It appears that users
were not deleted as they left due to a concern as to whether there might be
undocumented databases "out there" which they had sole access to. I want to
clean house, and have read that a user can be reinstated if given the same
user name a...

No User Level Security in the new Access 2007 file format - a possible replacement? Help needed.
Hi folks,
A couple of us (Brent Spaulding and I, Alan Cossey) have been trying
to find a way of generating an equivalent of the old User Level
Security (ULS) with the new Access 2007 file format. We've come up
with a framework that we think is worthwhile. We've called it Virtual
Password Protected Connection (vPPC) and it works by
1) Using a back end with database password and encryption.

I found a peculiar situation with my database. When I first use CurrentDB
and then show Workspaces(0).UserName in a MsgBox, I get the name of the

the value of Workspaces(0).UserName right away, I get "admin"... Further
investigation reveals that "admin" really is the logged in user from then

I want to prevent others from changing the startup properties using VBA in

position to prevent either the database file being copied onto another

I find the owner becomes unknown. There is a password on the VBA code.
