Why security from only one computer?
Hi -
I have a multiuser database (Access 2000) with some custom security checks
built into the coding, as the Access permissions were a bit too generalized
for our needs. A single copy of the database exists on a shared drive. We
relied on our Network security to ensure only the appropriate users could get
into the db to begin with.

Password on database - allow users to open front-end w/o password
Help. I've got everything setup the way I want where the users are locked
out of everything and all menus when they open the application. They cannot
get to the database unless they know the bypass (Shift) on open. I went to
put a password on the database thinking that would prevent the users from
being able to access the tables, forms etc. should they happen to know the

User able to bypass security
Hi, Does the WIF I'm currently joined to matter when creating a new WIF?
I'm in the process of studying/testing the security features in Access
(using 2003). Myself and two collegues share a network drive for our
department. I opened my (test)database, set-up the Workgroup Info File with
the user Admin out of the Admins group and only myself in the Admins group
and gave no permissions...

Secured Shortcut & Citrix
I have a secured shortcut on my laptop (desktop), but while in VPN mode and
using Citrix, you can't just double click the shortcut. You have to go to
the Citrix neighborhood, Microsoft applications, and then to Access.
However, just opening the shortcut in this manner doesn't work. How can I
get this secured shortcut to work in the Citrix neighborhood. Thanks....

Making mdb read-only after appending tables
Hi,
I have created an Access mdb(2003) through VB6 code using ADOX (2.8).
All tables in this db are being populated through code in the front
end. (Data for this is coming from flat files.)
The mdb has to be deleted after processing is finished. I am able to
open the db and modify data even as the program is running. I need to
find a way to prevent a user from opening and modifying it.

Security changes when opening different databases
I have an application with linked tables. The main application has it's own
workgroup file. I wanted to distribute an update database that would contain
a new set of tables and some additional fields.
I created a utility database that imports all the tables, modifies them,
creates a new database called "Updated Tables" and exports all the modified

Access 2003 logon question
about a week ago, I was opening various databases and suddenly began getting
a logon window asking for a password. None of the passwords I would normally
use worked. I uninstalled Office 2003, ran the registry cleaner with Norton
System Works, and reinstalled Office 2003. Still the problem. I'm unable to
use my Access for anything, since this window pops up for any database I try

Security problem on modules and linked tables
Hi All
I have inherited a Access 98 project which had a a fair amount of security
on it. Due to me now having to maintain this database and new requirements I

How can I send scanned files in Outlook without being blocked?

How/Can you establish security logins from a menu button?
I have a complex database with multiple tables which has been primarily used
by myself. Now the database needs to be accessed by other departments. The
database when opened displays a main menu. From the main menu you can then

Running a secure database via VBA
I have an unsecured database that schedules and runs several backend
databases to refresh their data. This works fine what I need now is to
be able to do the same for a secured backend. Is there any way to run
the secured database and when it is done to return to the calling
function so it can continue refreshing my other databases?

help with ULS
I ran the ULS security wizard, added a bunch of new users / groups,
removed all authorites from the Admin account / User group.
Works just as I expected when I go through the shortcut. If I try to
open it direct it won't open (good). But when someone else on the
network opens the .mdw file it opens no problem with full permissions
under the admin acct. How do I stop this?

Newbie Security Question
I currently have a page that pulls data from my access database. The
database contains information about numerous users a column exist that
identifies the user.
I want to publish the access page on a webpage and when a user clicks the
page a report is generated. However, the report should only pull records
from the database where his specific userid is in the user field.

HELP: Account disable?!?
Hi all,
A win2000 server in domain "A" have to read \\server2\dir\something.jpg in
server B (win2000 server in domain "B")
Server1 is logged in with Administrator (blank password... <-- not my
blame).
This makes an error: "account actually disabled", but if I do
\\192.168.0.5\dir\something.jpg it works....
"dir" permissions are in full control for "Everyone"

Help - Security Issue
I've put this question in here before, but have not resolved my problem. I

Hi Can someone please help me??
Whenever there is more than one person logged into a networked database we
get an icon that says we do not have exclusive excess to the database. if we
click the "OK" button 31 times the icon disappears and everythink apears OK.
If only one user is using the database we do not get this message

Why is this so hard?
I am still having trouble getting this security thing. I have read some good
posts and links and followed instructions (so I think) but still this is
giving me problems.
When I secured one database, now every time I open up any other database I
still have to log in. I find that very annoying. Furthermore, I still don't
understand how to put the secure shortcut on the users' computers...

Permissions on Form per Page
I have several Forms built with several pages each like tabs at the top of
the form. I need to be able to set permissions based on the page so that one
user may have read/write permission to the first Page/Tab, and Read Only
permission for the other 3 on the form. Another user may have Read/Write for
the first two Pages/Tabs and Read Only for the last 2, etc.

Oracle8 Driver Connect Dialog
Good Day,
I have an Access application that queries an Oracle 8 database.
Whenever I run this query, I need to authenticate to be able to proceed. I

product key won't let me convert it
I got the trial eval kit, and when I entered the product key it said that it
