Hi.
I have 5 databases on my system which I've been able to go in and out of
with no restrictions.
I was in the Analyse wizard in one of them and right at the end there was a
message saying something about user lock.
Not having a clue about what it meant I went into User-Level Security
Wizard, and gave permission (so I thought) to everything, but I now have a
logon window with my Wind...

workgroup information file (WIF) problem
I created a database on my local drive and secured it using the wizard. I
then placed a copy/shortcut on a different drive. No one can open it but me.
They all get an error message that they don't have permission... How do I
change the current WIF to point to the new drive and not my local drive?

Testing Database Security
Good-day Experts,
2 questions
1)
I have a database that has security (user/password) defined by say person A
on his machine. When person A opens the database, he gets user name and
password prompt. However, when I opened it, I do not get the prompt (i.e.
database is not secured). How can this be?

Secure app against network card serial number.
I have a security problem where I am worried that an employee will copy
(i.e. steal) our app and run it on another machine.
I would like to prevent this by putting some code on the "on open"
event of the welcome menu which looks for the serial number of the
machine's network card and reacts appropriately if the correct number
is not returned.

Security bypass
I need some help with trying to open a database I created, which I set access
control for. But now when I try to login it says I do not have permission.
Now when i first opened the folder there was no security file, which I know
was saved, so i tried adding another one, but still won't grant me access,
does this mean I have to start all over again?
Please help...

Encryption level for 2003
Does anyone know what level of encryption Access 2003 supports? We set our
database to encrypted but needed to report on the level of encryption that it
provides
Is anyone using Access 2003 for a HIPAA related project? Is Access 2003
HIPAA complient when using a database password and encryption?

Access 2000 db opens to form only
I thought I had it figured out, but I took all my options away and now my
database opens to the form for input, and I can't figure out how to get back

User level security 2002 / 2003
I've got an XP2002 db that I secured via user level security. My
problem is that my XP2003 users cannot open forms. They get the error
"you do not have open/run priveleges on form"
I've had those same 2003 users log into the db on a 2002 machine and
they are able to open the forms. Is there a file format issue here?
Any ideas? .mdw compatibility issues?...

Windows UserID and Access
Is there a way for a database to pull the user ID from the PC when some one
opens it?
What i have is a form to track when my reps login and out for their shift
and i want to see if people are logging in for other people when they are
actually not there. Everyone has a unique ID they log into the network with

Do all users need the MS Access Program installed...

Design Master security
Haven't been able to find an answer to thhis in the literature. If I
replicate a database, can anyone else modify the design master? So far I
haven't been able to figure out how to asign permission for this. Anyone else
opening the design master sees it as a replica.

Is there a way to set up an audit tracking in Access?
Is there a way to take the user name from the access security feature and
hand it to a field in a db in order to know who posted a record? Audit

How to make database available to computers w/out Access installed
In my office only 3 out of 10 people have Access on their computers, but I
want all of them to be able to access the database i created, I've posted it
on the local server, but only the people with Access can currently use it.

Providing logins for users and filtering records based on users
I have made my "Prospects" database multiuser by splitting it(using database
splitter) into fe and be.There are about 3000 records in it.Each of the user
gets his share of records to work on i.e. say each user is given 300-400 of
prospects records to work on them.My senior wants me to create user logins

I have been trying out Access 2007 and have imported some of my databases to
try out on it. I realize that they have removed the security that they had
in previous versions and was wondering if there was any way I can set up the
database that based on a log in the database would open to allow some users

Correct Sequence?
Can someone please enlighten me as to the correct sequence of events in
preparing to secure a db. Once I have my db completed and ready to be run
(over a network), should I split the db into FE and BE, then make the FE an
MDE. At this point do I then create my new workgroup information file and set
up the security I need.

Permissions Help

How do I delete permissions???
I don't know what I did but I get a message saying, "You don't have
permission...." when I try to open a particular Access file. I was trying to
hide the Security Warning item but, instead, created something about
security including a password. Can I delete all this and get back to ground
zero????

error 3109 When trying to update a table realtionship
I have an access 2000 DB and I am trying to update a table relationship but
when I attempt this I get the error "record(s) cannot be deleted; no delete
premissions on "MySysObjects'.
When I click help it points to an error 3109. But I can not find any help
with is. Any one got any ideas about this error.. I am the owner of the
file as well as the DB admin.

I am not very well familiar with MS Access security issues. Could
