Who's in charge here?
I'm very new to Access security, so please bear with me. We are using Access
97, and there is a permission problem. All of our other databases are
running smoothly, but one database disallows access to any of the tables. I
check, and it says I am logged in as Admin. It also shows Admin being a
member of the Admins group. Somehow, the Admins group lost Administer
rights, and I can't ...

The Exclusive open mode is not working as it did when first applie
I went to Tools, Options, Advanced and set the default open mode to
exclusive, and default record locking to All Records. When I did this
initially, only one user at a time could open the database, any additional
person who tried to open the database got a message telling them they could
not get in because someone else was using it. NOW, however, it lets
additional people in, and lets ...

Wizard Issues
I secured my database using the wizard and am supposed to have multiple
users. Everything worked great on my computer. When anyone else tried to open
the file, it said they didn't have the correct permissions. I used the user
names to match our Windows logins. What did I do wrong? ...

Why are all access database I open asking for log on?
I recently added security to an existing 97 Access database. Now when I log
on to all of my other databases (both 97 and 2000) they are asking me for a
username and password. These databases previously did not require usernames
and passwords. Any idea why this happening and how to fix it?...

Problems running access databases, residing on 2003 Server, from XP Client.

2) If a database can be opened an 'open file security warning' window
appears from which we can access the database. How can we disable this window?

Load Form Based on Current User's Group
I have a Timesheet application for which I will be using Security for the
first time. Most users will have read/edit permissions for a single form, by
which they enter their time spent on various projects. I would like to load
an Administration Menu form on startup for those in the Admins group, and the
Timesheet form for the Users.
Prior to securing the database, I've set the Adminst...

Locking a database
I have an Access2000 application with 3 linked databases (tables only). I am
trying to lock the application down so users who have full MS Access
installed cannot get to the data by going into the database window and
opening any table(i.e. they should only be able to view data via forms), this
is because the database contains settings for many other users and should be
private.

Need help with security
Hello all
I need to secure my database. This is the first time I am doing this,

Report Interface, I want only the manager to be able to look at all
employees and access to all the reports. On the other hand the
employees only access to THEIR OWN employee ID and no access to some of
the reports and of course no access to othe...

shift override in split database
Hi
I have a split database, both parts (FE and BE) have been copied to provide
a development database. Both use the same workgroup file.
When I further develop the database and try to distribute it for live use,
all of the security groups and access rights change, so I have to spend
several hours reinstating them every time. How can I stop this.
Also, I went to great lengths to secu...

Logon to Access
Some time ago I was experimenting with Access security. As a result, every
time I open any Access database, I am asked for a name and password in the
"Logon" box. None of my databases have passwords and this box comes up for
every database I open, even new ones. I have tried every possible password I
would ever have come up with to log on as "Admin" but nothing works. I've

Open a secured database and run a code procedure
I would like to open a workgroup secured database and run a code procedure in
it. I'm having a lot of trouble with the Shell command. In reviewing
previous posts, it looks like OpenCurrentDatabase can't be used in this case.
I don't actually want the user to know that the secured database has been
open; i.e. no visible window, if possible.
Thanks.

The Art of Defeating a PayPal Scammer - Part II
While scam baiting might seem fun, it has little impact on the
scammers. Most of the fake sites simply move on to another location.
Moving (frequently) is part of their standard method of operation to
confuse investigative efforts.
What will have a more (lasting) impact is getting the information to
places that have the resources to put a few of them in "jail." There
are a lot of places yo...

Splitting database with password
I wish to split my Access database 2003 which has 25 tables. I used the
splitting wizard but the backend database then has no password. When I add a
'be' password the 'fe' cannot access the 'be' because of the new password. I
can't find an easy way of putting the password into all the linked tables so
that the 'fe' can access them. I could delete the links and then relink all
the tables ...
