Runtime 97 then 2003 problem with reports
Here’s an odd one?
My clients just rolled over from Windows97/Access 97 to XP/2003, so
yesterday I ran my/their database app through 2003 and converted the
file formats frontend/backend to Access 2000 format. We had been running
Access 97 runtime and everything worked fine.
Now under Access 2003 runtime the uses can input/read/edit data through
forms etc but previewing reports shows ...

multi-user sql server views and local tables
I'm in the process of trying to convert an Access database that is currently
being used by 3 people into one that can be used by more than 20 people.
The report that is created uses linked SQL Server views and two
SQL Server Tables that are joined in the views. The two tables
are used for the user input. One holds account numbers and the other holds
the month and years that they want the...

Wireless!
Over the last week I have had one use corrupt two databases three times. I
soon realised that unlike most other he was using a wireless network
connection and the sugnal was inconsistent and frequently dropping.
A quick peruse of the this site indicates that wireless connections are a big
no no. So my question is, how can I make the local FE detect if a wireless
connection is being used and...

User blocked to open .mdb
Dear all,
I've put my .mdb database file in a local network server to let my colleagues

It works perfect if all of my colleagues already open the .mdb file and then
someone edit the records by using form.
However, if one user open the .mdb file and then edit the records, and then
another user didn't open the .mdb yet, then when this user want to open the .

False Error requesting Database password
Using Access in Office 2003 with Sql server 2000 backend. Database is secured
using workgroup. Within last two weeks, a few times when opening the
database, the prompt shows up requesting the database password. There is no
database password and never has been. This database and security was set up 6
years ago. Microsoft has really ruined Access. Can anyone help.

Access' limits
I'm intending to create an Access database that will contain records of a
product testing application in a manufacturing site. One table will contain
most of the data, and could contain as many as 2-3 million records per year.
The database BE will be on a networked drive, and the FE will be either VB
or VC++ code. Simultaneous access by 2 or 3 users, but never having to

ADP
Hi All,
I recently moved a database to a SQL server backend to allow for
multiple user access. I was successful in all account except speed. It
is extremely fast on my end(east coast), however, west coast users
experience extremely slow data access, so forms take five seconds to
load as opposed to instant. Now, I don't know much about networks, but
could this be due to that? I know that the ...

Mysterious Lock
Hello,
I have an Access data base that has the frontend and the data portion
split. The data is on the network and each user has a local copy of
the front end.
Everyone is able to access it except for one machine. I've tried to
log in using the Administrator ID/Password but I get an error message
that the backend data is locked exclusively by some one. I've kicked
everyone one, reb...

I have compacted and repaired the database using the wizard, and also

Looking for record locking documentation/primer
Hi All,
Can anyone point me to information as to how record locking is handled in
Jet 4.0? I've downloaded JetUtils from Microsoft's web site but the
contained documentation does not specifically address 4.0, only up to 3.5.
Any help is appreciated.

Multi User Locking errors
Hi All,
I'm seeking a little advice about how this should be handled in a multiuser
access application. We have a split access 2003 database with each client
having their own front end. In our current scheme of things it's likely that
multiple clients would be editing the same record simultaneously thus we
constantly receive the "Error 3167 This record has been deleted" or the
"Write ...
